Pat Barry compares Joanna to Fedor

Fedor fought in a weaker era. He has 0 wins over any all time great dominant fighter. People bring up Nog and Cro Cop bit both were exposed when they got to ufc. They were dominant in pride only because they were fighting pro wrestlers and cans. Once they got to the ufc and faced real comp they barely amounted to anything.

Barry is right too about Fedor. Fedors never evolved because he never had to face real competition with real rules. He was like rhe original Mighty mouse, he beat weaker competition dominantly and avoided any true challenges. Only difference is that people give fedor a pass and not DJ
 
Fedor didnt get firgured out. Everyone knows when he got older he stopped caring and just went head hunting for the KO. Plus slower relfexes, bla bla.

It's not so simple as to just clinch and win lol. They did clinch in the 2nd fight in the middle of the ring, and Rose won it and took JJ to the cage wall. Just because Karolina was able to use it successfully in one fight a couple years ago doesn't mean JJ could do the same thing to Rose to win. Especially considering getting into the clinch is the only place that JJ is truly vulnerable to getting taken down by Rose, barring wild telegraphed strikes.

Saying it is a bad matchup is just overlooking how good Rose has become. She's coming into her prime now and has just continued to make improvements every fight. Saying it's a bad matchup because Rose proved she could win a pure stand up fight against her, and we all know that Rose would win on the ground isn't the best argument. It's that JJ just has good matchups against the rest of the division because nobody else can beat her on the feet.

Which actually lends credence to what Pat says about JJ not evolving. If she can't beat you in the stand up, then she just isn't going to win the fight. There are no other options for her. She has good TDD and good defense in the clinch, but everything she does is based around defense to keep the fight in a stand up fight. The things she has improved at are not things that can help her win in different ways. It's win in a stand up fight, very likely by decision, or bust. It's been a great strategy because of how good of a striker she is, but it is flawed because she has no other options if she runs into someone who can beat her there.
 
Imo if Fedor was 33 again he'd go back to killing everyone with the same techniques as before.

Joanna is female version of Fedor, so is he mocking/praising Joanna? Or what? Hard to follow.

Rose vs winner Andrade/Kowalkiewicz
I'm fan of JJ and I have no desire to watch third fight between Rose and Joanna (right now),like many people around and it was said hundreds of times.

It's like some ducking, maybe they wanted Tecia to win, and Tecia was tbh manhandled by Joanna, now only option left is winner of Andrade/Kowalkiewicz. And red pany night incoming >>> Conor/Khabib.
 
One of the few things I concur with Barry. Fedor looked like shit agains fighters like Rogers, Hunt (who was green as hell in mma at the time) and Arlovski. That time I thought his luck would run out and what do you know it did. Then the fanboys panicked and used the "he is past his prime" card and then a 100 year old MW knocked Fedor silly :)
 
Pat and Rose talk a lot about Joanna, hardly surprising, Andrade not so much.

I guess that makes sense... like waiting for your dad to turn 65 and then whipping his ass for that time he punished your for taking the car when you weren't supposed to back in 10th grade.
