when I am trying to pass guard with a particular training partner, I noticed that he always tries to grip and control both of my sleeves at the cuff whether he is trying to play spider, open, or closed. He is the only person I train with that does this when I roll. what would you guys do to kill this grip situation? thanks

Don't let him grab both your sleeves.

If he is grabbing your sleeve he is probably controling you where the face of your wristwatch would be.

You gotta do the same. control him where his wristwatch will be and he can't grab you back. For instance I like to bait them to grab my sleeve from guard. I than rotate my wrist and grab them back by their own sleeve. I than punch them in the gut with their own wrist/fist and immediately start using my free hand to start setting up the guard open.

Than pass like normal.

Just don't over extend your arms to do it.
