Hello! Recently I have been starting to feel a sharp pain in the base of my ring toe and middle toe on my standing leg while doing my rear kick. In the past I have done a little hop while pivoting and I have been trying to cut that out, but now my toes hurt like hell when I kick. I tried just putting pressure on the ball of my foot and rolling around to see where the problem area is, and it is definitely at the base of the joint. It feels like it is almost moving out of socket or something. Here is a video of me kicking a heavy bag if it helps. Has anyone else experienced this? Any tips on how to relieve the pain?

Thank you guys for any and all help!

I don't know if I feel any pain in my standing leg when I use Kicking Techniques and Kneeing Techniques.

I'll have to do a few more in order to return to this thread.

Kick looks ok to me. I’m no kicking expert though. Shincheckin, arize, or Andymabobs might be able to help you. Although I’m not sure the last two post on here anymore.
If you want you can try summoning them with the @ before their names.

Could just be an overuse thing

Thank you @Crash Lance and @biscuitsbrah for your input! I understand this is a pretty rare issue, but wanted to leave my follow up here just in case another user runs into this and needs to resolve it. I took a rest day on Monday, got back to it on Tuesday trying to be very conscious of my form and it was a simple technical error - in kicking (at least with body kicks) I have been taught to bring my weight up diagonally towards the target, and after eliminating the hop from my kick, I replaced it with the habit of coming up on my toes way too much, causing the pain and strain. Yesterday I focused on using the ball of my foot more and utilizing the wider surface area to come up instead of my toes. Basically fixed it overnight haha.

Never heard of this issue in regards to pain

People hopping to compensate for pivoting is a common thing.

In regards to raising up high on the foot when kicking, I made some posts about that back in the day as well

Sounds like you got it figured out.
