Kind of a mediocre opponent considering what's out there, but I'll watch.

It's a new matchup prelude to Floyd rematch next May.

It will be fam friendly bout. Someone is getting knocked out.

Yeah, it's a tune up, and it's not egregious by any stretch of the imagination, but there are many, many other more interesting opponents at WW. I'm not sure I'd say it's particularly fan friendly choice, either. Vargas has improved a lot, but he's never been a real action fighter, nor is he a puncher. Still, it's an understandable choice, and it's a bonus for Arum as everything stays in house.

  7. and....... I will be rooting for Vargas.

Vargas has been developing his right hand as of late with Dewey. He hurt Tim bad and dropped Ali a ton with it. He's brings a forward Mexican style. Hope it's a nice classic PAC brawl like he had with Barrera and Morales. Of course Jessie isn't near those guys level but mexican fighters bite down on the mouth piece and go at it when it's time.

Manny needs to be careful and take it serious. He isn't even training yet.

This is pretty much how I feel. This is an unsurprising decision, we all kinda had a feeling that Vargas was the guy when Broner and Garcia fell through.

Vargas is not the best choice out there, but he may be the best of the rest, so to say. It is pretty safe to say the PBC fighters are not going to fight Manny for some reason. Outside of those guys, you have Bradley, Vargas, Brook, and Cotto. The only realistic option there is Vargas.

Vargas is coming off a good knockout win, and has looked pretty good lately. One thing that you can say is that he is always willing to fight. Vargas has stepped up multiple times now to fight top opponents, and I have a lot of respect for that.

I can think of 2 not counting Kell Brook: Garcia and Thurman. Who else?

You can take Garcia and Thurman off that list too. Garcia alleges that he was offered the fight for $4 million and turned it down. Thurman is out for the rest of the year with cuts.

The only better fights available that were not pursued: Terrence Crawford and Amir Khan.

But Amir Khan was just knocked dead, so that is kinda off the table. He won't be ready to fight by November, he needs a year off. Leaving Crawford as the only better fight out there that is actually able to be made.

Not really a drama fight, I see Pac taking it pretty clearly. Vargas will have some "see what I did!" moments but that's it.

I'll buy it, I buy everything. And it's not the worst matchup. I guess I'm just not that interested in another Mayweather fight and I think beating Bradley is a better accomplishment than beating Vargas. I think we all saw it coming though. Makes sense from Top Ranks perspective. If they ARE trying to make another Floyd fight in May, giving Manny a win next would be priority. His popularity doesn't need to be built, just the perspective that he can do better this time.

It's sad when Arum gives the media a list of 'potential' fighters to face Pacquiao you can predict exactly who it's going to be.
