Curious to see what people are thinking out there. Will the third fight be similar to the preceding two? Will it be a war? Or will Manny run over JMM?

I'm a little torn on this fight, it's a few years too late but I'll take it. It will be interesting to see how much Manny has adjusted his game since they last fought.

He hasn't fought a good counter puncher since then and a lot of people feel Marquez has his number. The weight will probably be a factor, Manny seems to have gotten stronger going up although Marquez has been around 145 fight night his past few fights so we'll see.

I'm still picking Manny around 6-7 rounds by TKO or KO but think it will be a competitive fight

Juan Manuel would have had a better chance if this fight had taken place a few years ago, but it's far from an easy win for Manny. Some folk are using the Floyd fight as an indicator, but Manny isn't as big as Floyd is, and his style suits Marquez more. I love Marquez - possibly my favourite active fighter - but Floyd was all wrong for him. Manny isn't.

I either see Manny winning by 2 or 3 points, or another fight that could be given to either fighter.

Yeah, Marquez certainly seemed to have a at least a portion of Manny's number previously. I'm looking forward to seeing how Manny adjusts to fighting someone smaller and more tactical since his last few outings have been against larger opponents.

I hear a lot of people writing Marquez off due to his age, but I thought he looked pretty sharp against Katsidis and recovered really well after eating that huge left hook early in the fight. It's also not like Pacquiao is still 28 years old.

will be a close fight but i dont see marquez taking it.

i just hope we get our $'s worth.

One good thing about the squash matches is so many people are writing Marquez off, and seem to ignore that Manny's last few opponents have been handpicked for various reasons - and a few of them were afraid to fight. Marquez has been picked as Arum likely belives he's too small, too old and will produce an exciting fight.

I think only the latter is true, and Marquez is going to surprise a few people. Just hope Morales can do well in his next few fights enough for Marquez vs. Morales to be a semi-relevant fight. I have no interest in Morales vs. Khan, but muchos interest in Morales vs. Marquez.

Marquez is just plain a better fighter than anyone Pac has fought of late. And Pac won't have a monstrous size advantage weighing all of 145lbs. It'll likely be a life or death struggle, as the first two were. The only way that doesn't happen is two-fold: 1) Pacquiao boxes Marquez in reverse, in which case he can win a low-key decision because he does have the better lateral movement and speed. 2) Marquez ages in training camp and suddenly loses his recovery abilities.

Wouldn't be surprised either way. Marquez should know Manny by now and make the necessary changes to his game for a difficult win, but Manny is Manny and I wouldn't necessarily recommend betting against him.

for me it depend on how jmm will take manny's power punches if he managed not to get knocked out cold then he has a great chance of winning but if he is to old to take pacman power then it will end ver very early

Manny has improved a great deal since their last fight, but then again JMM seems to still have the mojo and his counter punching skills are 2nd only to PBF.

Should be a great fight.

Oh yeah...and in before Kingbould spams the fu*k out of this thread accusing Manny of taking PEDs and "ducking opponents."

who are you guys fooling trying to hype this shit? sounds like you are trying to do it to yourself. Everybody knows Manny is gonna box him for 12 rounds, both guys will collect their checks, hug and Manny will go home as the victor, with another mexican legend midget on his mantle (for the third time).
And please no jibberish about the old fights when there are new challenges out there. This fight holds no relevancy over 135 pounds.

As sinister stated earlier, No one Manny has fought has the skill of Marquez. Especially JMM's counter punching. Its hard to pick against Manny in this fight though. JMM has always made adjustments to make these fights wars but if Manny keeps being able to catch him Manny will win again. TS, You cant put JMM in a fight and ask will it be an easy fight. Thats an oxymoron.

I 100% agree. I don't believe it will be an easy fight for Pacquiao, I was just surprised to hear how many people were writing Marquez off for his age and wanted to see if Sherdog would see it the same way.

As people have said, Marquez is definitely a much better fighter than any of the recent opponents of Pacquiao, and that is why I'm quite excited to see this matchup. Marquez also seems quite motivated to right the perceived wrongs of the last two encounters, and Manny seems to want to prove that he has been the better man all along -- makes this very interesting.

I like both guys and am hoping their trilogy ends the way it started!

Winner , Winner chicken dinner

I really thought you had more sense then this.

Anyway I don't have a doubt that PAC will win, just like I don't have any doubt this will be an exciting and competitive fight right up to the end. Anyone claiming JMM is a Mexican midget or whatever is just a nay sayer and looking for a reason to degrade the choice of opponent. JMM is aged yes, but still at the top of the wood pile. As lukewall pointed out in another thread, is it going to hurt the way JMM by not pulling 10lbs of water weight out a week before the fight? He usually comes in around the ballpark of 142 on fight night anyway.

I love Manny and while he has improved greatly since the last time he and JMM fought , I just think that Marquez is the type of guy that will always push him to his limits
