Pablo Popovitch - NoGi Exposed

Not buying it if he's wearing a rashguard throughout the whole vid.

you'd only buy it if he was topless?

you and a lot of other people probably. he missed out on a large market by wearing that rashguard.

saw the techs it covers and it does look like some really good shit.

Agreed - I just put in my order and am looking forwarding to putting some of his guard passing techs to work.

I'll post a review after I get through the series and put it to use in training.

I've got it and went through disc 1 about 3x this weekend. Leaving for training right now to put it to use in some light drills and hopefully light rolling.

I will post up a full review shortly, but I'll say this - based only on Disc 1, its the best money I've ever spent on a grappling DVD. Period. It is phenomenal.

I will try to watch Disc 2 and 3 tonight, and after post a full review... but even if its just videos of Pablo walking his dog or telling funny stories...it doesn't matter. Disc1 alone is so deep, and provides a very innovative framework and guide for consistent guard passing that I already got way more than my money's worth. Thats why I had to watch it 3x, to better digest all the info on there to put into some use today...

Have no doubts - if you want to improve your guard passing, this the series to buy. It has lots of new stuff that he has developed. There is nothing else like this out there.

damn, you people are seriously hyping it.

can't wait to see it then!

Got it and watched the first 2 discs just to see what is on it.
Overall, it is a good set. The first two discs, Vol 1-10 are all about posture, control (while in the guard) and guard passing.

VOLUME 1: CLOSED GUARD CONTROL
Mainly posture and grips. Most important move is the double grip. Nothing revolutionary in my opinion.
Fabio Santos showed us the same grip when he was here. The main difference is that Pablo uses a grip where the hand placement has the thumbs pointing in the opposite directions. Fabio would have both hands on top, palms down, while Pablo has one palm down one up. Pablo's grip is harder to break. Fabio showed it with the gi, so you could grip the gi.

VOLUME 2: OPENING THE GUARD
Mainly standing guard openings with the double grip as your starting point. Some nice details here.

VOLUME 3: HIP CONTROL SERIES
I liked this one, because this is how I have been passing guard for the last couple of months. It is the Torreada/ Tripod pass. One hand on the ribcage, the other pushing the leg down and pinning it to the ground.
This type of pass works great for me, because I am taller than most of the guys my weight, so they have a hard time reaching my legs to hook with their legs when I am circling around.

VOLUME 4: CROSS GRIP SERIES
This is the Z guard/ half guard pass series. I think that Saulo calls this one the leg lasso pass in his JJ Uni book.
Main thing that Pablo emphasizes is the wrist control on the arm that can underhook your leg for a half guard sweep.

VOLUME 5: UNDER AND OVER SERIES
This one is certainly new to me, although I ve been falling into this position in the last couple of classes.
This one I liked the most, because it is a very close, pressured type of passing.
You hug the opponents hips and walk around them to get the pass.

VOLUME 6: KNEE SMASH SERIES
Not impressed by this one. Press the feet down by the knees and walk around.

VOLUME 7: HOOK TRAP SERIES
How to defeat Butterfly hooks. I liked this because it has good hints on how to get rid of the hooks and control the person afterwards.

VOLUME 8: KNEE CROSS SERIES
Very good detail that has been needed in my game to not get swept.
It is the basic knee cut pass, but Pablo keeps his knee on the opponent in order to pin him to the ground, so the person can't come up/ sit up.
Very tight passing with same grips that Marcelo shows on his site.

VOLUME 9: SINGLE LEG DEFENSE
What to do when the person that butt scoots gets a single leg. Nothing major.

This is it for now. I didn't get to watch the other stuff, but will report once I am done.

video sounds like the bomb!

mwhahahahahahahah

Nogi exposed

the title makes it sounds like a gay porno

This sounds great, a lot of things I haven't seen covered in other instructionals.

Just watched disk one, pretty awesome so far. Good descriptions of the why's negus the techniques. Logical and well put together

VOLUME 10: HALF GUARD SERIES

I think that most people will like this volume. Tons of half guard control and passing. Of course, the other volumes compliment it as well.

One thing, and if anybody else has been playing with it please let me know, the gi certainly messes you up with this type of game. The control is great, but as soon as you want to start passing, the collar grip and sleeve grip have to be broken in order to go with the pass.
It's not anything new, but be careful with your neck as well, because I ve been caught in some loop and ezekiel chokes.
It might have been my carelessness, because I was focusing on the new pass.
No gi class tomorrow. We ll see how that goes.

I'm working with it, but I only do nogi. I've only been drilling with it to get more of it familiar to me, but will start using it next week. Liking the leg mount a lot though.

I thought Vol 10 was one of the best parts on the whole series btw.

I wasn't expecting too much from the last disc (taking the back) since I bought it for guard passing, but I thought it was great as well. I am going to start using the hip lock asap (already use a variation but the hip lock is tighter) and even learned a great new touch on finishing the kimura.

I'm really planning on spending the next few months absorbing it all and trying to implement everything in his series.
