Overwhelming smell of fish - Paranormal?

I'd say over the last 10 years we have been getting a very strong fish smell in my home which lasts for about 1 minute then completely vanishes. It's stops for a few years completely then resurfaces. You can actually smell it moving about, like from room to room. House has been inspected by professionals a few times as its embarrasing he when people are over but have found nothing.

You may be thinking this could be 100 things but the one thing that freaked me out about was when I was in hospital about 3 years ago and I was very ill. I was taking a bath and the exact same overwhelming smell returned for about 30 seconds then vanished again. I don't believe in ghosts but this puzzled me.

Any other experiences with strange smells?

its your carpet padding its treated with formaldehyde. Whenever it gets humid in your house it will smell like that.

I dated a Geordie once and she didn't smell at all. She would agree with you about Mackems.

 

Speaking as a chemist... amines have a funny fish like odor.

but there is a fair amount of formaldehyde and other chemicals.

 

Just strange how this smell occurred for about 30 seconds very very strongly just the one time. I've spent many of week in hospital and never smelt anything whatsoever before and after that.

 

There are two rooms in my house the reek of the smell. I'm tempted to rip up the carpet myself and just be done with it. But, shit, who's got time for that?

 

Usually when theres a fishy smell you wanna do anything BUT rip up some carpet....ill let myself out.
