Overtraining is the single most serious problem in the field of athletic training and nobody seems to notice or care. Discuss.

Nice thread.

Two enthusiastic thumbs up.

Undertraining*

By overtraining you mean undersleeping and undereating?

That man is either ignorant or he's trolling you. Of course there is such a thing as overtraining. Judging by the responses so far to this topic, my original statement seems to be absolutely true. Nobody even wants to talk about it!

Nope, overtraining doesn't exist.

Vegeta did "overtraining" and he became a super saiyan.

Where is your science now, buddy?

No. I mean training past the point where you have already stimulated an increase in strength and are now making it harder to recover from the workout, increasing the chances of becoming injured and/or sick, feeling constantly fatigued, burned out, and ultimately losing your motivation and desire for what it is that caused you to start training to being with.

Ok I'll follow your lead and start talking about it. Here goes...

Over training is NOT the single most serious problem in the field of athletic training and nobody likes to waste there time formulating arguments against retarded, sweeping generalisations.

Discuss.

What do you base your refutation of my statement upon? Do you have any empirical evidence to back you up?

Yeah with those amounts of steroids he takes everybody would recover fast enough to never get overtrained.
That said when i look around me its usually bad eating habits/ rest like already stated above.

I could ask you the same questions..

You're attempting to disprove my original statement so it's incumbent upon you to provide some empirical evidence to back you up. Since you failed to provide the evidence I asked for I can only come to the conclusion that you either don't have any, or you aren't taking this discussion seriously.

No, you need to provide a source or evidence to support your initial claim otherwise you're just another idiot on the internet making broad generalisations, which in this case are likely an attempt to seek justification of your own laziness or failure to perform as well as you hoped.

People don't generally like to be told to be given a statement and told to discuss things. That goes in the same box as mathematical word problems, and labelling maps. A proper approach would be to offer something that interesting and or informative, give some of your own thoughts, and suggest some questions.
