Overrated MMA gym?

It had a lot of potential, which is obvious considering who joined, and it flopped. But it wasn't Overrated, because no one was going around saying it was great, once it got underway. It just failed to live up to its potential. That isn't the same as being overrated. Overated would be people saying the whole time it was around that it was the best team. No one was doing that.

"Overrated - to rate or appraise too highly; overestimate"

I think the Blackzillians were definitely overrated by that definition. People were looking at their line up and attributing stock value to their team, which fizzled out. Classic over-appraised value.

how do you overrate something that didn't even happen?
Were people supposed to shit on them before they did anything yet?
Of course expectations were high.
Then they didn't live up to it and people were like "oh." and moved on

Thing is, they did happen. And they were overrated based on the insane amount of hype attributed to the team. The hype train was derailed over a period of time, but when those fighters were stepping into the cage a lot of people were like "Oh shit, [insert name here] is part of that team of killers."

lol That so called Miletich "fighting system"
They had a time where they were definitely on top. Matt Hughes and Sylvia both had multiple world titles, Jens Pulver and Robbie Lawler obviously had some great runs.

You yourself showed the names of the people who were a part of it. It wasn't an insane hype,it was a fact that they had a lot of good fighters.

I could also say the same way w/ the chute box boys.

(Friend of Rudimar F.).

Chute boxe had so many killers in Pride. Granted they were fed a lot of Japanese no hopers, but so many great fighters came from there, and that style is still effective. Werdum uses it to great effect.

That is exactly what created the hype train. Go look up any old articles about the Blackzilians, dude. They created a good deal of buzz.

Things can be overrated based on hype attributed to it.

I think we are just arguing semantics at this point.

Militech himself was the first UFC WW Champ with 4 successful title defenses. There was a time when MFS had the HW, MW, WW, & LW champions all at the same time Silvia, Franklin, Hughes, Pulver and they sent Horn out to collect the LHW title but Chuck beat him the second time when it was for the championship.

Right. You are trying to use semantics to disqualify my opinion.
I am just saying that the now defunct "Blackzilians" was an overrated gym. Fact.

When they were formed, many people were calling them a "Superteam."

They had Rashad Evans (before his decline), Anthony Johnson (who was actually winning), Tyrone Spong (K1 Champ), Alistair Overeem (also before his huge decline), Henry Hooft (Dutch Kickboxing Coach), TRT Vitor Belfort (nuff said), Michael Johnson (Also before his decline), and many more. Hell they even had Undefeated boxer, Guillermo Rigondeaux in their fold.

Super hyped team that did not carry many of their fighters to victory. Matter of fact, a lot of these hyped fighters started losing under the blackzillians banner.
Did they hire some of the best coaches?

Not overrated cos no one thought it was any good :D

Remember semantics, bro? They were overrated based on hype attributed to them.

I get that you are trolling now because you were wrong, though. So this is the last pellet I feed you.

Did they hire some of the best coaches?

Yeah, for sure. Some fighters doubled as coaches too.
Henry Hooft was their kickboxing coach. Rigondeaux coached some boxing. Tyrone Spong coached Kickboxing as well. I think they had some BJJ blackbelts too. If I'm not mistaken, Rashad Evans was a wrestling coach as well.

Gunnar Nelson is a good fighter.
he's good (though I think he's pretty overrated), but if all the talent the gym has is Gunni and conor, it's more of a star show, not a real, well rounded gym
