Overeem competition appreciation thread

This is a thread to show appreciation for Overeem’s willingness to fight the best of the best when he could easily be crushing cans in Bellator/Rizin and juicing to the gills.

A lot of fighters avoid the UFC because they know they would get wrecked (or popped for juicing) if they fought the best in the UFC and prefer to look good beating subpar fighters in lesser promotions

Despite all the times he’s been knocked out Overeem still wants to fight the best. Let’s be real, he could beat every single fighter in the Bellator HW tournament, as well as the whole Rizin roster (in the same night).

He didn’t take huge dips in competition like Fedor or duck fights to be a big fish in a small pool instead he’s swimming with the sharks and getting eaten here and there but always coming back for more. Respect to the Reem, a true legend of MMA.

Overeem is the very definition of being warrior. Reinvented himself multiple times, where other fighters would have quit.

While other "fighters" are cherry picking weak, war-beaten one eyed champs, or cherry picking dudes on vacation in Cabo.

Disliked his cockiness at one point but he has continued to grow on me. I think his eloquence and warrior attitude won me over. Seems to take his losses without excuses too. Now I just get pissed when he gets KOed. Really wanted to see him get that UFC strap. Oh well.

He's obviously in it for the money, and for that reason won't switch to another org, but I'd love to see him in Japan juicing his nuts off. Even if the best he'll ever fight will be UFC rejects like Mittrione and Duffee - I'd love to see him be Ubereem again and smash people!
