With the upcoming event in Singapore tomorrow, I can't help but notice the huge drop off in talent. Normally for such a momentous occasion as this, you would think the fans get better than lim and saffedine. But this goes to show that the ufc has gotten too big, too quick. With trying to bring in all these new weight classes and the new women's divisions, and international tuf shows, we are now seeing full cards whereby all the fighters on the card would have been facebook prelim fighters at best only a couple years ago.

The ufc is now incorporating boxing elements without directly realizing it. One thing years ago that separated the ufc from boxing was that all of the fights, from the earliest prelims, to the main event were fighters we knew and were of quality. Now much like boxing today, I find myself caring less of the prelims and now fans are treated to only a couple fights that are noteworthy.

Anyone care to disagree? What are some of your thoughts?

It's true obviously

But what's the alternative? Less cards with a smaller roster?

The UFC can't win, really. And that's coming from me who is the first person to say that that Singapore card stinks.

This card is meant for the local market where it is taking place. The UFC isn't expecting people outside of hardcores to watch it.

I don't ever remember a time when the prelims were as you described.

Or maybe they do and they have plans to do it a different way.

You don't know what they're trying to do.

This is going to sound lame and old but if you don't like it you don't have to watch it.

At the end of the day, its a new market who probably doesn't know the difference from established and start up fighters. If the fights deliver then I think it will be a success for the fans in attendance.

I was looking at the time before all the fox cards and expansion, when there were just numbered events and ultimate fight nights. Not cards every week where we gotta see a bunch of no-names from tuf Brazil.

It is expanding much faster than the talent. That's the problem. I hate expansion in all sports, but with talent thin sports, it really bugs me.

MMA is best as a fringe sport. That is all it will ever be. UFC is testing the waters, to see how far they can push it, but the market will always bounce it back to a fringe sport area, no matter what.

If I were the Fertittas, I would be looking to sell in the next 2-3 years. MMA has clearly maxed out, and they won't be able to fool people about that fact much longer.

I still don't see the difference.

It doesn't help that they are willingly passing up established talent like Ben Askren while hiring a bunch of nobodies.

I completely agree about the talent.

You people complain about anything. What do you want them to do TS? It isn't their fault you only know 20 names in their roster. Do you expect them to have the same guys on every card or something to please you? I don't understand.

If you were the Fertitas you would laugh at those dudes in Sherdog saying what they would do if they were the Fertitas.

Too much fun? What's that mean?
It's like too much money, there's no such thing
It's like a girl too pretty, with too much class
Being too lucky, a car too fast
No matter what they say I've done
I ain't never had too much fun

"Waaaaah, we have too many fights to watch!"

Pretend it doesn't happen and don't watch.

It's not about what I recognize. It's about the fact they they have been doing so much expansion that they're bringing in a bunch of low level talent and filling all of their cards with it. How many cards do you need full of tuf competitors from tuf Brazil, smashes, and soon enough the Canada-Australia season. Cards were stacked at one time. Now we're getting shit cards. Not to mention this Singapore card is absolute dog shit.

I'm not a fan of the division of channels. I wish there was a UFC channel with all the shows.
