This is exactly the type of shit we need more of. The problem of Islamic extremism is NOT going to be solved with bombs (although it certainly helps sometimes), the duty inevitably falls on other Muslims to police their own and by reinforcing the idea that extremism is fucking lame.

 

LOL at them still insisting that Islam is a religion of peace. I'm glad they're against ISIS, but it's time to drop Islam like a bad habit.

 

This won't be good enough for the droolers, but it's nice to see a major movement against extremism. The only way forward is through a Muslim enlightenment, unless you want to make every part of this world uninhabitable. This is a necessary step.

I just mean people who won't accept this on the grounds that Islam is violent at the core. The folks who offer no way forward but holy war or genocide, and we see plenty of them here.

I think it's self evident that the text is violent to the core, it was written (as with most religious texts) by primitive men. If the Muslims are going through an enlightenment, I don't see how anyone can see this as a bad thing. I hope more is to follow.

They are Ahmadiya.., who are not considered Muslim by mainstream Islam. In Pakistan the State even forbids them from self identifying as Muslim. They would be eager to denounce ISIS since ISIS would kill them for being non-Muslim.

 

There are 10 - 20 million Ahmadiyya muslims worldwide out of 1.6 billion muslims. The majority sects of Islam don't consider them Muslim.

Checks out. It's a very recent development in the Islamic faith, and as such they should not have much sway with the hard core of extremist Islam.

That shop keeper who was killed in Scotland was Ahmadiya, and he was killed by a Sunni Muslim from England who claimed the Ahmadiya shopkeeper said something on social media that was disrespetfull of Muhammed.

The Ahmadiya community invited leaders from different faiths to attend the funeral ; Jews, Hindus, Sikhs and Christian leaders did attend but noticeably absent were Muslim leaders . So when people say that it is just a minority that harbors intolerant views , they only need to look at this incident .
