Thought hereditary was much scarier.

It follows was a decent horror movie, but not that scary imo. Didn't get the hype tbh.

Personal favorite is Autopsy of Jane Doe

I liked It Follows though I didn't think it was super scary.

Watcher (2022) scared me though.

I liked It Follows though I didn't think it was super scary.

Perhaps more of a kind of Lynchian dread to it rather than depending as much on traditional scares but I think its probably the best "pure horror" of the period, a lot of my favourite stuff would probably be called more drama with a bit of horror influence like Under the Skin, Bliss, etc.

Hereditary is the first film since The Exorcist able to really illustrate the depths of depravity of Lucifer and his lieutenants. It is disturbing at a base level. The cult in the film sought to bring back King Paimon, one of Lucifer's most loyal servants. There was at least some level of care when incorporating the rules of ancient texts into the plot line of the film. The mother and father in the film were basically sacrificed because when Paimon appears alone, sacrifices must be made to summon two lesser kings of hell that serve under Paimon.

I think over time Hereditary will ultimately be placed in the top 5 greatest horror films ever made.

There’s quite a few lesser known much scarier movies that ppl haven’t seen on the level of It Follows , Lights Out , Come Play , Z , Hellions , There’s Something Wrong With The Children, Nailz , are a few , these movies are surely scarier then Godzilla which is a action sci fi movies but if you put scarier movies few will have seen them .

Both those movies are good but it follows isnt too scary imo. Horror has been amazing the last decade and this year specifically has been amazing. As far as the last 10 years goes the films that have disturbed me the most have been; Incantation, Longlegs, Smile and Saint Maud.
