My top three are Jones, Ank, and JDM.
Jones - I'd rather he just got stripped. He's clearly not fighting for a long time.
Ank - Dude's fighting style just doesn't work for me.
JDM - Feels like the lesser of the top WWs. Kinda just waiting for Garry or Shavkat to beat him at this point. Even Brady has a decent shot.

Two different questions are being asked above:

I love Merab, but can't say I'm overly excited about his Sugar rematch.

DDP I like, but his fight with Khamzat is my most anticipated fight. But when he rematched Strickland I didn't care.

JDM i'm indifferent about, but his fight with Islam is close to tied for most interested.

For me it’s between Jones and Merab. Jon simply because I don’t think he is ever going to fight again so I don’t even know if he counts. Most of Merab’s fights are pretty uneventful and it’s hard to get excited to see him fight sugar shins again.

Fantastic evidence that "Anglo English-speaking" champions are most coveted by the majority here. Many preferences may be consciously biased while few are unconscious. Visual tribalism is just human, whether we like to admit it or not.
That being said; it's a shame we don't have any "traditional" American stars these days (for now). Guys like Randy & Chuck were so beloved and looked up to by generations, both young and old.
I guarantee you that as soon as UFC gets an authentic "Western" star, he will be the most popular champion by far. Even morons like Strickland, O'malley & Covington were being salivated over for a while and they are incredibly unlikeable people/characters.
Dana & Co prefer dangling carrots in front of athletes from 3rd world countries, rather than paying local talent a living wage. It's just "good (short term) economics".

Heavily dependent on who they fight next. Right now I would say Ankalaev because the Alex rematch doesn't interest me, but if it was say... Ank vs Jiri, that would definitely be up a few places. Not saying Alex doesn't deserve the rematch btw, I'm just not excited about it.
