OUCH-Perfect Tornado Kick, Goddamn

Hahahaha! Dude, I just watched that two seconds ago and came here to post about it in the "Crazy Kicks" thread.

That was fuckin' sweetness...knocked the taste right outta that dudes' mouth.

Oh her? Thats Vida Guerrera, and one day she will be mine!!!

....I wish.

I've seen that kick before. Absolutely beautiful... doesnt get much better than that, no sir.

And yes, Vida has one hell of an ass

another reason to keep your hands up. Why were they fighting with hands down anyway?

oh my.. gawwwd....

i like how the guy proceeds to stand up right after and pretend it was nothing. Kudos

Dam nice kick too bad no one uses that in MMA.. prolly not a good idea to try ..

See: MW GP Champion Mauricio 'Shogun' Rua.

That's a spinning roundkick, is that what people mean when they say "tornado kick"?

Is there any reason why that guy had his hands down like a beginner?

The reason hands are down is that was WTF style sparring. Punches to the head are not permitted so hands are mainly used to block kicks which come mainly to the body

It is a fun sport but got it teaches you bad habits and when you go from this style of sparring to other punch orientated sparring, the habit of having your hands down comes to haunt you.

Great technique on that one, those kicks have power, that extra spin helps.

but surely the awesome footwork helps? looking at TKD the footwork and speed would be a great asset to mma, also are blocks with legs permitted in TKD?

just from MT, can see a cross of TKD kicks and MT kicks, along with MT stance and blocks being brilliant as a base. Add boxers hands but anyway :icon_conf

anyone able to say if its possible to cross train TKD and MT effectively? i know its largely to do with the individual and you will probably get odd looks coming with a cross trained stance during lessons but what the heck if it works. Im planning to cross train my MT with TKD next year after ive got a solid MT base.

Leg blocks are allowed and largely used. you even can stomp the opponents leg if it's in a kicking motion.

It depends, probably not. TKD's footwork is too linear, and is based around evading kicks and counter-kicking to the best side. It isn't very compatible with Muay Thai.

what the hell are you talking about TKD foot work is too linear?
wouldn't evading kicks and counter kicking be the exact point of footwork?
I think it works very well, I am a TKD dude,, but I spar MT rules when I train stand up with friends and I works for me

IT'S TOO LINEAR. When you are in such a sideways stance, you are fodder for leg kicks and takedowns. That is what I mean by "It's too linear". Because it is, unless you're talking about TKD footwork in TKD competitions- which we aren't.
