Right when he's at a point where he should seriously consider retirement, he comes through in a big way against solid opposition.
 
Being so one dimensional doesn't usually work, but Maia is so damn good at his one dimension that he's made it work.

I mean he's subbing young top 20 fighters with essentially a one dimensional gameplan at age 43. That's nuts

No Maia needed a longer camp and Woodley gave him a short camp because he rushed his title fight. He also grabbed the fence in the 1st. Who knows what would have happened if Maia got Woodley down.

I don't even think it's debatable.

Unlike guys like Jacare and Werdum, Maia has stuck to his roots and has pretty much ONLY tried to submit guys...and 90% of the time he has done it...in a harder division
 
imagine if Maia had prime Mike Tyson punching power with Vasyl Lomachenko striking and foot work.
