Other than GSP...

Racking my brain and struggling. Bad examples but maybe Martin Kampmann and Brendan Schaub, not great examples but best I can come up with at the moment. Just like everyone else I could list plenty that go the other way.

Ken Shamrock - his last submission win was against Ross Clifton in 2009 and in his last 12 fights he was KO'd or TKO'd in 8 of them while KO'ing Kimo which took place in 2004.

Note: His last submission win before Clifton was Sam Adkins in 2001.

His teammate, Francis Carmont.

Bas a grappler?????

Kongo and the ever boring Carmont are the only guys that came in my mind aside GSP.

what about Diaz/Penn? were they grappler turned strikers?

Early GSP was for the most part, he was able to grapple at a high level still but he would normally fight standing

I believe the correct term is pre-serra GSP...

you're welcome.

I thought his base was karate?

Obviously he had great grappling but he was a striker then moved towards grappling more... he always showed a high fight IQ in any case and was very very well rounded

He always grappled in mma.

He always grappled in mma.

It's true TS. GSP practiced Karate as his first TMA prior to his first MMA fight. However, by the time of his first MMA fight he was already a purple belt in BJJ and was wrestling
