1.) Pettis just beat Bendo, so he's out of the title picture for the next few months.
2.) TJ Grant literally has not trained in 3 months.
3.) Gilbert Melendez is booked to fight Diego Sanchez this month.
4.) Thomson is a great fighter and merced Diaz who was coming off a title fight.
    5.) There's nobody else.

I don't know if you watch MMA much but in his last fight, Thomson KO'd the former #4 LW in the world. He should be 2-1 versus the #2 Lightweight in the world and beat guys like KJ Noons, Pat Healy, and JZ Cavalcante outside of those fights.

Oh come on you couldn't figure this out yourself ?

    Pettis champ

    1 Bendo just lost
2 Gilbert is coming off a loss
    3 Grant is injuried
    4. Josh is coming off a TKO over former #1 contender Diaz.

It makes all the sense in the world.

LW division is in a pretty bad place right now.

I think it was around the second Edgar/Maynard fight when they had like 6 or 7 contenders and Joe Silva decided to wipe them all out before the third fight.

It's actually the reason I hate instant rematches, Edgar/Maynard 3 and Bendo/Edgar 2 wiped out a lot of contenders.

yeah dude, I watch enough to know that nate is not nick (and both are headcases)... and that he was dominated by henderson, has not to recent losses to rory, stun gun, guida, joe daddy, and gray.

In summary win over nate, does not equal titleshot.

no offense no disrespect, im just not feeling this title shot

Pettis doesn't need any help in matchmaking. He's among the top of the game right now.

when Thompson wrestles his way to a UD you will feel foolish.

or he will get KO'd and u will feel great. Either way u are underestimating Thompson, he has skills everywhere.

Once again, I don't know if you watch much but Diaz was ranked #4 because he had just come off a title fight after dominating Jim Miller, Takanori Gomi, and Donald Cerrone.

    In summary, watch more MMA.

Thompson is a great vet and a tough fight for anyone. His win over Diaz and his strong performances against Melendez should have reminded anyone who forgot or didn't know. Tough to say who will win, but I'm not counting Thompson out of this fight.
