Even if you don't win, I would still take it to court and make them spend more than the amount of the ticket to get it. And be sure to ask them if they ticket everyone who plays golf since I'm sure you didn't do as much damage as some of the divets you see from that.

We had some kids chopping down some trees in a natural area that was on parks property. My supervisor said to go take care of it.
So I go down there and these two kids (teens) have dropped a huge tree with an ax, and hacking away at it while it was on the ground.

"What the heck are you guys doing?"

"Uhhhhh, we just saw a strongman lumberjack show on ESPN, and it looked fun."

edit** i just got home from taking a run at the local high school and they actually had an area where they shot put on the field, if u can find a school or soemthign near by with that it would probably keep you from getting another ticket, just an idea

if its a field that the city manages its absolutely a ticket that you will have to pay even if you fight it. I work for the parks and rec department in my city. PPl arent even allowed to use fields designated for sports other then ppl who have rented them from the city. Its ghey but it to stop ppl from making holes and shit.

I worked at the city parks back home the last 3 summers, and the latter part of that is true there, as well... And if it was an area that gets mowed, I can understand, as the bumps would be hard on the guy on the mower if he hits one... But if it was a place where it wasn't really upkept like ya said... I sure wouldn'ta had a cop come after ya.
