Just watched the fight again a few times and have a few comments:
1. JJ did not pull the trigger once. Cormier, Rogan and other talking heads said that this JJ coldn't compete with DC, ring rust, etc. Bull. JJ might not be the smartest with respect to his actions outside the cage, but it's hard to argue that his fight IQ is equal with General Norman Schwarzkopf. Jones toyed with OSP as a cat does a mouse-fuck with it until it bleeds and then, well, fuck with it a bit more. But don't kill it. It's weakened, beaten body is much more a testament than a swift kill.
2. Jones, with the exception of his now painful shins, is ready to starch DC-this time in brutal, brutal fashion. I think JJ harbours a special core of blackness for DC. Last time, he whooped his ass in the clinch, in my opinion, to prove a point. DC is the clinch master-beat him there and well, that's it.
3. The JJ we saw last night was built for DC. Power-lifting? Only if you're facing a phenomenal wrestler.

Special core of blackness?

It's difficult to say since dc is short and has no reach and constantly moves forward while OSP is tall has great reach and was waiting for his one punch shot. It's easy to play mmamath and say that based off this performance Jones has no chance against DC; but the same was said about Holly due to her performances before Ronda people thought Holly stood no chance.

Jones played safe and won 50-45 easily. Now he is unscratched and ready to go.

OSP is a dangerous guy. This was a lose-lose situation for Jones.

I expect all you idiots put your money when your mouth is when DC and JBJ face eachother again so I can get a better price on Jones. Bunch of haters.

The only thing I learned from that Jones fight is that Cocaine makes you stronger than lifting weights does.

Yea, I felt he beat OSP up pretty badly. He worked his body with kicks all night, he broke his arm, he body slammed him, he elbowed him in the head, he kicked his knee about 50 times. I honestly thought Jon beat the shit out of him.

Seemed like once Jon got into round 3 and 4 he almost wanted it to go all 25 minutes, just so he got as much time to be in there and get his timing more adjusted. People criticize athletes after layoffs saying "if you prepare right you should be fine" and that's just not the case when you're on the level and in the kind of zone Jones was in. Not fighting for over a year is much more than it seems, guys like Jones, Cruz, and GSP are freaks of nature who can deal with adversity and injuries only to come back still on top

50-45 and he walked off without a scratch. It was a methodical one sided beating.

It strikes me as odd how many people don't mention OSP was saved by the bell in round 4. He was also highlight reel slammed to the ground and generally abused.

Jon casually picked apart a top 10 opponent coming off a year layoff and did it with complete impunity. People have ridiculously high standards.

I said it in other threads about JJ performance that he probably didn't go all out and didn't really show anything new because he could be saving it all for the bigger fight for the real Title v DC , he could of also be lulling DC into a false sense of security by looking very beatable since coming back from such a long layoff

Rashad said this in the post fight.

Makes sense. Could be true.
