This might be old news, but anyway, here it is explained how the triangle choke arrived into Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, by some one who was there to witness it happened.

Kind of old.

I wonder how it was developed in Judo, someone posted down a paint of a mesopotamian wrestler using a triangle too.

Its only been around for less than a hundred years, I think its creators name was Tetsune Oda? He (if I got the name right) is also tge guy who developed Kosen Judo.

Damn I cant edit but that less than a hundred years line sounds silly, considering Judo isnt that old.

Is it really less than 100 yrs old? I always assumed it was older than that.

1882 Kodokan founded by Jigoro Kano.

Kano didn't just "create" all the moves for Judo, though. They were adopted from other martial arts. The techniques themselves isn't what made Judo unique. It was the practice and and lifestyle philosophies combined with creating a singular vision/definition of the principles of a technique.\

Anyway, Sankaku Jimie/Triangle/Fig4 probably been around for some time before that....

Someone posted an interview on here they did with one of the gracies that they train with(which one escapes my mind, it might have been Carlson Jr.) Anyways, he said that the triangle choke didn't even come into BJJ until the 70s or 80s. I found that pretty interesting.

Marcus Soares, Carlson Sr. BB. That was a cool interview.

King Henry the 8th was famous for his figure four head scissors, or triangle choke. It is much older than some guys think

Billy Robinson so I guess it's just an oral tradition, though we know he definitely wrestled Francis I and got suplexed. He was a very talented wrestler apparently, according to wiki.
