Between orange man taking us out of Paris climate agreement and rolling back government regulations he’s trying to kill my kids, we need the new green deal voted on and passed or we are all dead in 12 years.

United States Led Entire World In Reducing CO2 Emissions In 2019

The United States led the entire world in reducing CO2 emissions last year while also experiencing solid economic growth, according to a newly released report.

“The United States saw the largest decline in energy-related CO2 emissions in 2019 on a country basis – a fall of 140 Mt, or 2.9%, to 4.8 Gt,” The International Energy Agency (IEA) reportedon Tuesday. “US emissions are now down almost 1 Gt from their peak in the year 2000, the largest absolute decline by any country over that period

“A 15% reduction in the use of coal for power generation underpinned the decline in overall US emissions in 2019,” the IEA continued. “Coal-fired power plants faced even stronger competition from natural gas-fired generation, with benchmark gas prices an average of 45% lower than 2018 levels. As a result, gas increased its share in electricity generation to a record high of 37%. Overall electricity demand declined because demand for air-conditioning and heating was lower as a result of milder summer and winter weather.

The IEA noted that 80% of the increase in CO2 emissions came from Asia and that China and India both contributed significantly to the increase.

“In China, emissions rose but were tempered by slower economic growth and higher output from low-carbon sources of electricity,” the IEA reported. “Renewables continued to expand in China, and 2019 was also the first full year of operation for seven large-scale nuclear reactors in the country.”

“Emissions growth in India was moderate in 2019, with CO2 emissions from the power sector declining slightly as electricity demand was broadly stable and strong renewables growth prompted coal-fired electricity generation to fall for the first time since 1973,” the IEA concluded. “Continued growth in fossil-fuel demand in other sectors of the Indian economy, notably transport, offset the decline in the power sector. Emissions grew strongly in Southeast Asia, lifted by robust coal demand.”

this can only be because Obama’s policies just like our economy doing well.

Are you trying to take credit for the improvements in cost effectiveness of the solar industry?

No way those solar powered cars and solar powered cow farts have been revolutionary

lol. It´s not hard reducing a lot when you pollute at insane levels and many other countries have dropped so low already that such reductions are hard to make. The US is still the second biggest polluter on the planet and have insane pr capita numbers.

Maybe most of those other countries have such low emissions because they have the GDP of Arkansas.

I didn´t know Arkansas was doing as well as Germany. Good for them.
Maybe you have such high GDP because you pollute more than India.

Its not going to stop anytime soon. The world runs on fossil fuels. We'll stop using them when they become scarce enough to drive the prices too high to be affordable. I'm not even being a smart ass, that is reality.

Pollute more than India, yes.

More than China, no. However every American pollutes as much as 2 chinese people. They win on sheer numbers.

Actually many countries have already begun planning a switch away from fossil fuel.. Massive reductions in CO2, plans for banning cars that use fossil fuel and even plans for all transport to move away from fossil fuel..

The US is really being left in the dust on this one. Even China and India are investing billions in renewables and creating millions of jobs.

What kind of weird link is that? No mention of CO2 pollution but uses "satisfaction with parks" as a metric? lol.

Does it really matter if the US is number 1,2,3,4 or 5? Sitting back and just saying "but but China and India" is not really a viable solution. That´s setting the bar really fucking low. The richest country in the world should have higher standards.
Pr capita every american pollutes as much as 10 Indians (dot not feather)

Its a complex problem, very, very complex. What are you going to do about the fact that it takes about 8 gallons of petroleum to make 1 tire for a car, every car obviously having 4 that have to be replaced regularly. The paint on the car is petroleum based, all the plastics in the car are petroleum based. That whole gdamn car is petroleum based, not just the gas you put in the tank. Everything around you, civilization as you know it, was brought to you via fossil fuel. The paint on your wall, the keyboard you are typing on, the clothes you wear, the food you eat was produced by petroleum based fertilizers and petroleum based pesticides.

I could go on and on, some solar panels and wind farms aren't going to fix this problem.

Sitting on your ass pointing fingers at China and India certainly isn´t going to accomplish much either.

I'm not pointing any fingers. That would be rude.
