I'm a big fan of open world games where you can just explore and roam around. I wanted to ask opinions on some games that I've heard some buzz about:

Far Cry Primal (Strong chance I get this one but never played any Far Cry games)
Fallout 4
The Witcher 3
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

Does anyone have any thoughts on these games or recommendations of games I should pick up? I bought a PS4 in October and it has really reinvigorated my love of video games.

Just cause 3... Huge world. Can do just about anything in it. I played the elder scrolls for awhile. It was pretty fun but took up too much time.

I also meant to ask about Skyrim. Someone suggested that to me recently. Never heard of it though.

The Elder Scrolls online has skyrim in it.. thats how big that world is.

Horrible frame rates though

If you've never played any Far Cry games then you should pick up Far Cry 4
Its not as good as 3 but its still a solid game that you can put dozens of hours into just roaming around doing random side stuff

Skyrim and Fallout 4 are made by the same developer and play quite similarly. The actual theme of each game is completely different though, with Skyrim being a mythical fantasy LOTR type game and Fallout 4 having a post apocalyptic setting. Both are highly rated, and more so for PC gamers as the mods created for these games add years worth of playability. For the first time however, the developers will make mods available for Fallout 4 on consoles.

These are games where you can ignore questlines and explore the world as you see fit.

The Witcher 3 is said to have a game world that is over 30 times bigger than it's predecessor, although i'm not sure how much is open for exploration straight away. It's considered the GOTY 2015 by many.

Not going to be for a while but DayZ will be coming out on ps4 some time in the future. If you're not familiar with Dayz it's an open world survivor game that was originally a mod for the pc military sim ArmA 2. It's currently still in alpha stage on pc but will be on PS4 when it hits beta some time this year.

I only own Fallout 4 but love it. You can do whatever you want really, but doing missions etc will allow you to rank up faster, thus being able to survive longer while aimlessly wandering.

Witcher 3 I've heard is awesome, and currently on sale on PS Store, I think it's 25 or 30 bucks. I'm thinking of getting it. I've heard Metal Gear Solid's newest game is also pretty open world

On top of all that. If you DO get Fallout 4, buy the season pass for $30 bucks and you get all the DLC they release. It'll jump to 60 bucks soon. I'm waiting on the DLC release to hop back into Fallout. I invested way too much time into it that I had to take some breaks from it.

I'm not sure if you're into MMORPG's but if you don't feel like spending any cash then DC Universe Online is free on PS4.

I refuse to believe that you've heard of Shadow of Mordor but not Skyrim. Skyrim will go down as a ton of peoples GOAT and was hugely advertised and talked about. Mordor was a bland repetitive bad game with the only cool thing about it being the nemesis system, that is only really hyped on NeoGaf. I still wish I could get my money back after reading a hype thread for it and biting.

Mad max
Gta 5
Saints row
Sleeping dogs
Lego movie game (I think that is open world)

Can't think of anymor

Couldn't believe far cry Primal was a full priced game. Looks horrible. Was watching my friend play it and seems like something you'd get bored of really quick.

If you want open world go with The Witcher 3, fallout 4, Dying Light is also really good. Haven't tried it but I own it so I'm gonna play soon is MGS V, looks great. If you want good open world games I would honestly avoid Ubisoft altogether every game they make seems like a reskin of something they have just done. (Although the Division looks legit)

Just how good is Skyrim? I've never played it.

IMO Its like Fallout 4 in a lot of ways. An amazing game in its own right but it doesn't do justice to the franchise. Both phenomenal games but lacking the lore and heart of their respected franchises. I would HIGHLY recommend it though. Its a love hate relationship I have with it.

Witcher 3 is a must play game IMO. Go pick it up now.

Fallout 4 was great, especially if you like Elder Scrolls.

Shadow of Mordor was fun but it got old fast. Repetitive AF.

Haven't played Primal.
