News Ontario No Longer Taking Bets On UFC

Actually, people have been making baseless accusations about sports betting for years. The ref in the NBA and pete rose both went down for it but those were subtle influences. Taking a real dive in combat sports is so easy to do, it doesn't have to happen and be exposed many times for the entire sport to be tarnished. People will still bet, but their friends will say oh yeah i bet you bet on WWE too. Their moms will say don't you know that stuff is fake too,

It's a joke

Think of all the shady sports leagues they turn a blind eye to

And horse racing lmao
Exactly even horse races, Doug Ford's govt just opened a can of worms with by accusing the UFC of lacking over "Sports integrity"

It seems to me and it sure feels as its desperation considering its likely that his sports gambling bill isn't doing that well..
With the NFL ending soon with just few weeks there are just few sports left to bet on and with a gambling that forces bettors, poker players, DFS players to be within the province.
Makes no sense while they have no such rule for lotteries.

Canada is full of scammers and grifters
Too many lax rules and regulations
Became a money laundering hole

Anyways when I do bet, I trust GSP and Bet99.net
Georges would never lie to me

I’m not even sure what your point is. But let me give you a crash course in Canadian provincial politics..

Alberta is by far the richest province in Canada, in terms of natural resources. Nobody else comes in as a close second. And it’s the ONLY province that has no provincial sales tax. Lowest legal drinking age. Fully nude stripping. Adult sex shops, casinos, etc, etc...

Directly, or indirectly there are relatively very few jobs in the whole province that would exist without oil. It’s connect the dots. Degrees of separation. The oil patch is responsible for ALL of it.

Alberta, and Quebec are pretty much wide open. They always have been. It’s akin to The Wild West. The province does whatever the hell it wants.

So when the Alberta government shit cans something. I guarantee you it’s a big deal. Because gambling is run by each province. For all intents, and purposes.. The government is “the house”. They are foregoing easy profits, by banning it.

And I don’t disagree with the ban. Over the last few months in particular shady shit galore has been taking place in the UFC.

The province thinks the UFC is crooked. As Joe Blow, from Kokomo I can’t disagree. It was only about 15 months ago that betting on just one single sporting event/contest became legal in Canada. It was always only a minimum of 3 different contest parlays that were legal.

Why shouldn’t the province refuse something they think is crooked? At the end of the day. For Albertans in general, more good than bad will come from this, imo.
I hate people shouting out somebody bets this and somebody bets that in the post fight interviews. When the actual entertainment product, the fighters, are advertising while there are advertisements on everyones clothes, the floor, the arena, the commercials, the commentators at the beginning of and inbetween rounds, and on-screen graphics, then I am not really receiving anything of value as a spectator I might as well go scratch my nuts and grab a beer.
