Supposedly Jones sample was taken June 16th. Does USDA wait till the last possible minute to finish testing this shit or what? They've had the sample for 3 weeks and wait till 2 days before the fight to break this news?
Does it really take that long? I mean I go to the Dr and they draw blood and test for a variety of stuff and it's only a few days.

I preferred it when they announce the drug violation after the fight.

It takes roughly 30 days. This is some crazy extensive testing and who knows what kind of backlog they're dealing with.

I bet the USADA guy responsible for the results is a Bellator official in secret

Wow. I had no idea it took that long. So this was 3 weeks from the time the sample was taken. Wonder if anyone else on the card will come back positive who they haven't gotten to yet. lol

Well dana said when they get a positive they do multiple other tests to make sure they are right. Not sure how much time that adds but if you really want to make sure of something and not cancel a big fight I can see why it took a while.

Well the backlog thing is just bullshit.

The problem is, USADA knows about the drug testing game and its business. Novitsky said before he came in that he doesn't know shit about fighting. They don't know the fight game, and that business. They don't know how fans get those days leading up to a big fight. Those last few days before a big fight are sacred. USADA doesn't get that.

Now that this happened, I expect the UFC to take some corrective measures to make sure the fans don't get kicked in the dick like this again. We can take bad news, but 3 days out is just too close to handle. I think we all feel pretty burned and bummed out by this one. It's definitely partly USADA's fault. Most things that can be done 3 days early can be done 7 days early. The rest -- the ones where 3 days early is as early as you can possibly finish them -- they can wait til the fucking fight's over.

It's definitely not like how it is on police procedurals; that's almost science fiction compared to reality. In most cases, test is expensive, slow and time-consuming.

If this happens a week or 2 ago we are all angry but we know something could be done as a replacement....

3 fucking days... Who can you find in that time...

To say that if 3 days early is the best you can do that you should just let them fight is nonsense. If the point of USADA is to make a clean sport then you take them out of the fight 3 minutes before the fight if you have the test results back that late.

That's kind of what I was thinking. DC said he wanted to remain on the card but if they knew the results of this much earlier and were doing more tests in hopes the first were wrong, they were just kidding themselves. They should have announced it and hoped they could find a replacement. Now they have no time.

From what I was told by somebody who claims to know shit about this, some of the tests actually take a few weeks to complete. Not sure if that is true or not

I get that but again, we can all go to a GP Dr or to the ER, have blood drawn and get a whole variety of diagnostic tests done in hours. I realize testing of this nature is much more precise but it's all diagnostic machines doing it.

That's why I made the thread. I'm admitting I have no idea and was curious about it. It just seems stupid to me to schedule a test like this at a point in time where if it comes back positive they have no alternative but to cancel a fight . With no time to find a replacement.

I guess I don't understand why a sample could take more than a week (let alone a few days) to process and notify ordering facility. Coming from hospital setting
I know it not the same but still.

Now Petey is accusing me of being like Jon Anik? Just what does it take for a mod to get the ban on here? :p

True...but you have to remember they all go to one lab, i think it's in salt lake city, so thete are alot of samples going to one lab. It does take 2-3 weeks unless there is a priority put on it i believe.
