Sterling was so desperate to avoid the stand up and was kinda telegraphing the takedown. But Yan didn't try to time a knee or uppercut sending his ass into oblivion. He only tried it once and much later.

At least feint the knee give the wrestler flashbacks of the Marlon fight. Make him more hesitant to just try them so many times, giving him more stand up time to finish him.

Yan's ground game just isn't there. Sterling was desperately asking to be back-mounted and Yan had no clue.

Yeah, he should have just stood him up try and hurt him standing.

It's mega hard to time these intercepting knees though.

Did you turn off Round 5?

So what are we debating here? He should have used the counter jump-knee earlier, is that your point?
Yes, don't wait until the 5th round. Also feint it so it gives sterling something to think about. Did you read anything I wrote?

Most dissappointing thing is you can stop 20 take downs but it only takes 2 to loose, tough lesson for any fighter

Sterling was praying for a knee to the face but I guess Yan was worried.

He was controlled for long periods of time when he was taken down, so he was hesitant. He was more focused on defending the takedowns and didn’t want to risk the counter and leave himself vulnerable if he missed.

No doubt I think he fucked it 2 and 3. Sterling did that Eastern Block shit where he throws a low percentage TD but then chains it, at that point unless you’re on the same page you’re probably going down.

Brilliant adaptation from Aljo.

Im celebrating him like everyone else if he does the same in the 5th… but, he absolutely melted, and clearly lost the last 2 rounds.

Then at least feint them. Sterling was so desperate for the takedown it would have given him some pause at the very least. Especially with his own history getting knee'd into oblivion.

Personally, if I was Yan I would have KOd Sterling. Don't understand why he didn't just do that

I liked Sterling faking the td and throwing some pitter patter then going straight back to a td attempt.
