One fighter excited for Gil to leave the UFC

Which org wouldn't drool at the prospect of signing Melendez... he's one of the best LW in the world!

Alvarez or Chandler vs Gil are as good as any potential UFC fights for Gil except maybe Pettis. Having Melendez go to Bellator would strengthen potential competition to the UFC, as well (though, to be honest, I can't see the UFC having any viable competition in the forseeable future). At the end of the day, I think we'd all rather see him stay.

No way Gil leaves the UFC
He waited too long to finally get there, he is not gonna go back down to the minor leagues
This is just Dana negotiating through the media like he always does

If the UFC messes this one up, they can never state that they have the best fighters (which is arguable to begin with).
As boring as Askren may be, they were not willing to see a Bellator guy be successful in the UFC.

Pretty much this.

Waited forever for Gil to fight in the UFC and then this ole bullshit.

Having the best collection of fighters in the world is not the same as having all the best fighters in the world. There is 0 argument that the best collection of fighters reside in the UFC. Sure there are some top tier guys outside for the organization but to pretend that any organization, or even the aggregate of all organizations outside of the UFC has the best collection of fighters is laughable.

I hope others like Reem, GSP, Silva and among others leave too.

Have fun making that Rousey money, fuck head!

But a company that states it is where the best fighters are fighting, and does not go after the best fighters that are available, it is pretty odd

I'd rather see Eddie beats Chandler and comes to UFC to face Melendez.
This is just contract negotiations, it's not going well but Gil isn't released.

I could not agree more. To go by their word they should be going all out to sign Gil, Askren, Eddie Alvarez and Chandler. Blatantly not the case.

I'd love to see him out and bring Alvarez to the UFC, also i would love to have both of them in the UFC. The LW division is so fucking stacked

He's probably going to One FC. If payment's the problem and One FC was willing to give Askren a 7-figure contract, they're gonna go all-out to get Melendez, and I doubt that Melendez is gonna be willing to go through an 8-man tourney to get a title shot OR that Bellator's gonna risk losing any more credibility by disrespecting their tournament-format more than they already have.

That, or he's gonna re-sign.

Melendez was making 175,000 a fight before. Don't know what UFC is offering but it probably isn't far off that. I really don't know if Bellator is willing to pay what the UFC isn't. That was strikeforces downfall.

And he got 175 flat, not 90/90 like Chandler and Eddie get.

So signing him to something like that would make him higher paid than both Chandler/Eddie, atlesat in guaranteed money.

Unless the uFC is really offering him way less I dont see Bellator giving him that.

And Christ I hope the hell he doesnt leave. If the UFC lets him go they are a joke.

Without getting to see Gil/Pettis, Aldo, Khabib, even a Bendo rematch, Punk fight again, Rustam, RDA, Grant.

Gil vs Eddie and Chandler are amazing fights but then what? I'm sorry but Gil vs Brooks or Jansen isnt Gil vs Aldo, Khabib, Grant.
