ONE Dawn of Valor, Kadestam vs Abbasov Oct 25 Live from Jakarta

Kadestam looked pretty good last time but the quit job from Kichigin kind of sullied the victory

So Abbasov is from Kyrgyzstan, walks out with flags of Kyrgyzstan and Turkey and according to Russian commentators lives and trains in Russia. I also thought that he is ethnically Azeri but flag of Turkey maybe means that I'm wrong.

This is a pretty dull fight save for a couple of big takedowns.

Kadestam had to know he was down 0-4. I think he might have won round 5 but obviously not enough to win. Should've went all out.

I don't think either guy is very good in the grand scheme of things though.

Not dull at all. There were lot of striking exchanges and more of a couple of great TDs. Damage was done in the ground too.

They are very good, especially the new champion.
Abbasov is extremely well rounded. I think he would do well in any mma org. What do you mean by grand scheme of things exactly?
Kadestam grappling still needs improvement.

Abbasov by lnp.

It wasnt LnP mate, he was dropping knees on Kadestam face, which was swollen up. I dont understand some opinion on these boards.

I think Abbasov showed a good well-rounded skillset but only like 1 1/2 rounds of gas tank

Again I dont understand what fight you guys were watching. Abbasovs cardio is actually pretty good and he still had power snd strenght in latter rounds.

In my humble weaboo opinion ONE FC got the best ring girls without a doubt

I cant disagree more. Skinny body, no meat; and plastic faces with weird expression

I didn't find it very entertaining, it wasn't very competitive and Abbasov wasn't doing much damage considering how dominant he was. Each to their own though, entertainment is obviously subjective.

Abbasov I thought had sloppy standup, good wrestling and okay top control, I didn't like that he got swept by a bench press at one point, though. He did what he needed to do to win, it's the first time I've seen him and I know he's stopped Yushin Okami so perhaps I'm being too quick to judge. By grand scheme of things, I mean would they slot into the top 30 WW in the UFC.

Agree with you on the ring girls btw, one of them reminds me of the joker.

I think its easy to look sloppy at times in the feet vs Kadestam for a grappling specialist. Still Abbasov did a great job taking away Kadestam's weapons particularly the leg kick form early on, which was clearly a main part of Kadestams gameplan.

He barely took damage through the fight and even landed some good punches standing that had Kadestam backing up. Abbasov is not the most refined striker but has solid boxing/footwork fundamentals, is quick, has good power in both hands and can take a punch.
His wrestling is pretty high level and always infflicts damage with GnP.

He is 16-1 in the last 5 years only loss in his debut in One against Sapo Santos in a close fight

I certainly dont think there are 30 WW in UFC who would make it easier against Kadestam, Okami and Thani as Abbsov did.

Abbasov vs Nakashima is easily a top20 matchup by UFC standards imo

lol yup
