Have any of the competitors spoke out about the new weigh in system and how it's done? I.e., how many times they weighed in before their fight and what not?

And since I guess their weight is supposedly monitored over a fairly long time, they never have official weigh in events anymore?

No clue. The whole thing has been largely hush hush. Askrens last opponent failed to maked weight no details were given about how he failed and by how much. I also fail to believe Sapo really made 185 with the new rules. Its secretiveness seems more fishy than ever.

The final weigh-ins happen as late as twelve to as early as three hours before the fight. They got to keep it random like that to ensure that the fighters are staying at their walk-around weights. The logistics of that make it hard to schedule a big conference to cover the weigh-ins, and the fact that they're not dehydrated and are going to end up looking exactly the same at the weigh-ins that they do at the actual fight kind of negates the need for photos. Not only that, but the last time they had weigh-in coverage was at the China card in January, and the only photos had all the fighters wearing coats outside while it was snowing.
They logged in the weights for their first three cards this year, though. Kevin Belingon weighed 143, Eduard Folayang weighed 168, Roy Doliguez weighed 132, Marcin Prachnio weighed 215. Those're just some from those cards that I remember.
I personally think they stopped announcing the weigh-ins cuz' it was confusing to people who don't understand the new system. People thought Bibiano was moving back up to featherweight and he got removed from the Sherdog rankings cuz' of that, when really he stayed at bantamweight and just can't dehydrate, and other rankings have kept him at bantamweight. Now they just say "bantamweight" or "middleweight" and everyone knows what they're talking about.

Ev Ting talked about the weigh-in system and's said he's happy with it, by the way. He joked about how he can eat a steak before he weighs-in now and was drinking a smoothie earlier in the day, whereas before he was starving himself and trying to resist water to stay on weight.
Also, from what I understand, it's basically a beck-and-call system when you have to either weigh-in or report your weight. They ask what your weight is and you have to respond. The promotion could harass fighters with that, but promotions could harass fighters over anything.
The only actual weigh-ins, where you step onto a scale, happen in that twelve-to-three-hour span before a fight, though, from what I understand. They aren't forcing fighters to weigh in three times a day every day of fight-week.

I think there's a good chance Sapo made weight. He looked a bit trimmer in his fight with Rafael than he did against Askren. He could've shed off some excess weight. I'm not saying they didn't edit the results, but I just don't think they did.

Check out their Facebook page. They did some kind of "weigh in" last night...may just have been face offs tho

Those were just face-offs. They all just took off their clothes and did a stare down. There wasn't even a scale on stage. The video looked fun, though. Jadambaa looked cut.

that... is not gonna work in the long run.

Well, it's built on the honor system, so its faults only go as far as the system goes. The fighters are inevitably going to have to make weight, though, and they're not gonna be allowed to dehydrate (they give them dehydration tests), so it's not like being truthful about it really does much harm. Besides, if the fighters lie about their weight and they end up missing weight the day of the fight, it hurts them more than it does the promotion.
I also, personally, think a system that's more built around trust in people is healthier than one that's more built around constant monitoring and forcible-tests, where the fighters would have to go to a regulated weigh-in facility that is co-operating with ONE that makes sure you're stepping on a scale without any funny business and are monitored from beginning to end, and an official report gets filed to ONE for any infractions or failures to pass the parameters of this test. All to make sure that a fighter's not weighing 161 on the week they're supposed to be weighing 159.

the whole point of this 'system' theyre trying to implement is to prevent extreme weight cuts. if theyre not actually monitoring fighters, then its no different than the current system everyone else employs.

to me, believing in a system 'built around trust' is just plain naive

Even if fighters are lying, they are still getting tested for dehydration at the weigh ins so it's not exactly dependant on trust.

Yeah, the world doesn't need more faith in each other. It needs more restrictions, control and punishments.

Leave all your valuables on your lawn and then go to work\school and then say that again.

I know of two fighters who weren't tested or weighed during their entire fight camp. They were tested for the first time then eek of the fight. Which could allow weight cutting. One of the fighters cut 6kg for the fight

Interestin info, thanks. Do you know if he was dehydrating to lose weight and was he piss tested for dehydration?

I thought all the divisions go up to the next weight limit
FLW > 135, BW > 145, FW > 155, LW > 170, WW > 185, MW > 205, HW > 265 or no limit (I don't know)
And all the champions keep their current Title (i.e. Askren is the WW Champion, but the div is 185 Lbs)
That could work because they didn't have a LHW champion before, but since they said Roger Gracie was going to fight for the LHW Title, and Tapology has listed the fight at 205, I don't understand a shit :D

So glad Roger is back! hope to see him in the UFC once again some day.
