Once and for all, can someone clarify the reason Conor went to 145?

Did HE want to go to 145 to be bigger and to have potentially easier competition (I think LW was stacked at the time). Did he have a plan to try and win 2 belts and knew it would be easier or better received if he started at 145 and moved to 155?

Or are the rumors true that Dana and the UFC told/asked him to fight at 145?

He fought at both weights in the past before UFC... what's the problem?

Well, can't really clarify this since I have no facts, but people claim UFC wanted him at 145. It's not hard to figure out why, if that's true, since 155 is stacked and 145 is not.

Oh it's quite easy.

He went to 145 because he could make the 145lb weight limit. You know, like pretty much every other fighter on the roster does.

He has fought at FW for the majority of his career.

I don't have a problem and I know he fought at both before. His previous fight before UFC was LW I believe and he seemed to be getting bigger as most people do as they get a bit older. Clearly he can make 145 so it's to his advantage. I just always wondered why he chose to debut at 145 and not 155.

Fighters fight at the lowest weight they can realistically make. Is this really new to you?

you'll find out shortly why he was at 145lb

... To be the champion and fight the best p4p fighter in the world and knock him out in 13 seconds? Make a bunch of money? get real famous and what not?

He was brought in at 145 ,and when he tried to move to 155 after the brimage fight he was told it wasnt an option.

Just like most all fighters. He was cutting weight for an advantage. He got to fight mostly midgets by his own admission. Conor probably was one of the biggest weight cutters out there tho. Then again, so was GSP.

He was comfortable fighting at both weights before he came to the UFC. They saw potential in him and probably advised him to fight at 145, a division that had little to no attention at the time, whereas the 155 division was doing relatively well.

He likes beating up midgets.

Also, he can't fit into the skinny jean collection he bought if he fights at 155.

Same reason Mighty Mouse went to 125, Cruz went to 135, Aldo went to 145, Lawler went to 170, Cormier went to 205. Because it increases their chances of winning a championship which they all have.

The UFC asked him to fight at 145. I thought this was common knowledge but apparently not.

fighting midgets is always good fun

Coming in at 155 and moving down to 145 doesn't look as good as moving up a weightclass.
