Is it really time to put the old dog to retirement? And develop the hightech new F-35 Joint Strike Fighter?

Memories of seing the Hog? Looking forward to JSF F-35? Overall thoughts of the situation?

I thought they officially delayed the retirement and that several factions are protesting it remain in service? I know a bunch of them are used in Syria and are proving effective.

The F-35 may be faster with greater nextgen avionics - but its punch and brute force capabilities are nowhere near as effective as the A-10

I will be sad if they get rid of the A-10. When that thing lets off its machine gun farts, you just knew something was going to die.

An absolute amazing piece of technology that has served US forces well for a long time. I don't see much of a need to move onto something else.

The A-10 is the single most bad ass weapon ever invented. The only people who think it needs to be retired are the people who stand to make a bunch of money off it and couldn't care less about the countless lives this thing has and will save.

I think most Marines and soldiers would rather have an A-10 or an AC-130 providing overhead cover over any other aircraft in the Air Force's inventory.

It's a political game. F 35 has big money behind it. It's expensive, untested, behind schedule and extremely expensive.

These are the same people who spent millions on astronaut pens that could operate in space, rather the use grease pencils

"(CNN)ISIS seems determined to destroy much of what's in its path as it tries to conquer more territory in Iraq, Syria and elsewhere, but it may have inadvertently saved a fleet of U.S. Air Force jets."

"Danger Close" in England = We have enemy troops close to our position

"Danger Close" in America = Get the HECK down!, we're dropping JDAMS right on top of you.

Always loved the A-10. There has yet to be any concrete evidence of the superiority of the F-35 for anything. I'd rather stick to what we know works: A10, AC-130, and AH-64.

Oh that's how it happened huh?

I posted 2 pictures.

You told me to shut the fuck up and I responded. I left out calling you a bitch in the last post because it was pretty clear what I wrote and requoted. But I should have typed it again seeing how your first response indicated you might have a reading comprehension problem in asking me what I called you.

Now what were you talking about. If you aren't already a believer in the A10 that has been kicking ass for 40 years you're an idiot. The unproven F35 is what has to make people believers. It has to prove that it can effectively replace others.

I win

My brother works on the A10. He says they're still undecided as to what's happening but as of a few months ago, the F35 couldn't fly and shoot at the same time.
