Omoplata Sweep

I'm trying to make this Omoplata sweep work.

But when I try it, even if I have a hold of a jacket, and especially no gi, I get into this sort of thing.

Where they could even stand up with me if they were strong enough.

I have the impression that you should be able to generate enough power, no gi, to Omoplata someone who has upright posture in your guard but I can't manage it.

Anyone have any advice?
 
I had this problem for a while as well. I've found that if I need to break someone's posture from the omoplata, connecting my feet together and pushing (extending my legs) forward (not towards my partner's head, but directly in front of me) will usually get his or her shoulder to the ground.

As long as your back is still on the ground it should work fine, but it loses power if the person picks you up.
 
The omoplata sweep is a timing thing and is something you do as soon as you get into the position. Try kicking your heels hard and straight out in front of you like you are trying to make your body flat as board on the ground. This will cause your opppenent's weight to be shifted and you will get the sweep.
