I randomly came across this video the other day, it's Jones at the 2008 Notheastern Grapplers challenge. Also found some video of him wrestling in high school that was moderately interesting.

why is he fighting a guy half his size here? Looks like there are multiple weight class difference.

Yeah, it's cool to look back at great fighters when they were Raw.

It's still a bit stunning that Jones went 6-0 in 4 months and got into UFC on short notice not long after.

a lot of guys dont cut any weight at all for grappling tournaments and are somewhat out of shape. Also there is such thing as the absolute class where all weights compete against each other.

No kidding.. just the shear suddenness of his reign is enough to change the sport. You will never truly be able to tell who will be the next big thing as the sport is still very young, and true mastery of the sport is still in its' young stages but very fun to watch evolve.
