Old Movies And Racism

I just watched this episode of Perry Mason (The Case of the Weary Watchdog) on ME-TV the other night, and the whole episode was the Chinese actors doing corny ancient Wise Man sayings, and the Asian females lusting after the white man. After a few minutes, I remember thinking no way they do this now.

This shouldn't only be subjected to black movie goers..

Asians to this very day are still the subject of ridiculous stereotypes in our media outlets...

not to mention the absurd caricatures of the past decades.

I remember this ridiculous John Wayne movie I saw...took place on an airplane...

the Asian stewardess/passenger was the most over the top, ridiculous representation of an Asian...the movie was comical...

Theres a choice to be made to be the hammer or the nail. In this case I equate it to deciding to laugh at a stereotype or be hurt and offended by it. The choice is up to each individual. Be the hammer and laugh folks, especially at oneself. All of us are ridiculously flawed so roll with the punches. Pretty please, do it for the health of humanity.

African American?
Back in my day there were black people. Shit was off the rails.
