Were one week away to decide the next lhw challenger.

im rooting for Gus cuz i feel he deserves his shot at Jones again but man Johnson is on a roll and looking like a monster.

I feel Gus will take Decision but i am worried about Johnson power.

As I was watching the road to the octagon the other day, I couldn't help but notice that a lot of crumble's highlight reel consisted of his performances at ww.

Well .. most of his fights in the UFC WERE at WW so ...

Gus is a tough bastard with an iron will but I'm afraid he relies on his chin way too much which could be catastrophic against someone like Johnson.

I think if Gus can avoid danger for the first 2 rounds his chances of winning go up drastically.

If he goes out there eating heavy leather early it could be goodnight for him. Super excited for this fight.

i want rumble to win but honestly to me its a win-win situation. i know alot of people want gus because he's already given jones a run for his money before though.

great fight. Have no idea who'll win and can't wait to find out

So him knocking off charlie brennenman is supposed to tell me something?

No but him stuffing every single Phil Davis takedown and completely outclassing him should.

and Lil Nog is washed up but not everyone can ice him the way Rumble did. He can still give some top 10ers a tough fight.

What do you suggest they should have shown?

Yea Gus should play it safe the first two rds then pick it up.

Johnson will come out hard but will fizzle down as the fight goes on.

Which are perfectly relevant, and sort of to my point.

This is exactly what I think about the fight. Gus has to keep the distance and when he can, take the fight to the ground to avoid the risk of Rumble's ko power.

Rumble fought at heavyweight, he broke Andre Arlovski's jaw and won. He's KO'd other former heavyweights along with lhw's. He's a badass, scary dude. This is a tough one to call. If he can deal with the range of Gus he could win, but I think he may get beaten on points. This one's a pick 'em really though.

I think he's the greatest commentator ever, I love when he screams.

What does the V stand for?

Ironically enuf, i look at this fight a lot like i did jones/dc. Gus is the better fighter...period. Rumble has one way to win only, and thats landing a bomb. Which was the only way i could see dc beating jones. The wrestling never played a factor in that fight, nor will it in gus/rumble. So grappling aside, rumble is more explosive and powerful than dc. That makes him more dangerous to an extent. But quite frankly, gus will wear rumble down and weather the initial storm. Thus winning this by unanimous decision. Johnson doesnt have the gas tank to be effective beyond the 2nd round, much less the 4th or 5th. Im rooting for johnson, but its a pipe dream. Gus wins this easily.

General consensus is Gus using range and boxing to outstrike Rumble from a distance and eventually winning by UD or late TKO.

I'm hoping for a Rumble KO but it's quite unlikely, so probably Gus UD.

The "initial storm" that people refer to when talking about Rumble, isn't really a thing. If he hurts you, then he'll "storm" for a finish. He just happens to hurt and finish people early in fights.

It's not like he rushes at his opponents like James Thompson.

Welp, guess there's no need to watch then

REALLY looking forward to this fight and would honestly put this as the biggest non-title fight in the LHW division since Liddell/Wand (no, I don't count the Rampage/Rashad 'bad blood'). Gus has the footwork and the range to give anyone fits but Rumble has monstrous power and underrated wrestling that could prove to be a factor (if he can get a hold of Gus). I don't know who to pick in an analytic way, honestly but I'll tell you I hope Rumble wins.

Gus just needs to survive the first round (and that's assuming he doesn't dominate it) and he'll cruise after that. Rumble has a puncher's chance and his power is overrated (yeah, I said it. Not saying he doesn't have power in his fists, but people talk like he's some 1 punch KO specialist because he beat up an ancient Nog and broke chin Arlovski).
