Ok sherdog, if Conor beats Khabib, who will become...

The next Conor killer? Tony? Kevin?

It seems like nearly everyone poses a threat to Conor/is a bad matchup for him and will expose him, but only one man has been able to actually beat Conor in the UFC, and it was Nate. Let's say that Conor does in fact come back and beats Khabib in under two, will the fight be labeled as a fluke or will the Dagestani get discredited to push the narrative of Conor not being that good?

People will consider it a fluke but i think it's painfully obvious Conor wins on the feet and Khabib wins in grappling so it can go either way.

Conor will HAVE to defend takedown attempts to survive though because Khabib isn't going to give him a whole lot of counter opportunities and i can't see Conor straight knocking him out off of jabs unless it's through accumulation.

They'll always jump on the bandwagon of whoever his next opponent is while simultaneously discrediting the one he just beat.

Guarantee you that when Khabib loses, he'll go from being "potentially the greatest LW ever" to "a good but not great fighter with a very padded record" in a lot of people's eyes.

Feel bad for ts.

Like real bad, do you need some money or a place to sleep?

Kevin Lee that lost to T Ferg and Al Laquinta..........That Kevin Lee?

Bawahahahahahahahaha.........

P.S. Khabib beat Al Laquinta.......
Oh you're right. Dennis Hallman beat Matt Hughes twice, Matt Hughes beat Frank Trigg twice. When Hallman and Trigg fight it should be lock for Hallman. Styles make fights dude. Lee will beat Tony in a rematch and what the fuck would Khabib do to Kevin Lee? Kevin's wrestling is good enough to keep it standing and stand up wise they're not even in the same league. Khabib looks unbeatable because he hasn't been beaten but as soon as he loses everyone will be like "oh that's all it took". I'm a Khabib fan too I just don't think he matches up well with Kevin, beats everyone else though.

I think it comes down to Conor's ability to manage distance. He needs Khabib shooting on him from distance so that he can try to catch him coming in, if Khabib is able to get into the clinch Conor's striking advantage is negated.

I can see Khabib diving for Conor's ankle from halfway across the cage to avoid the striking. I can see Khabib trying to rush Conor and push him up agains the fence (potentially getting KTFO by a left on the way in). I can see Conor being over confident, throwing kicks, getting taken down and mauled by Khabib.

I want to watch this fight.

Conor is 3-2 vs LWs on the UFC roster.
All of the success he had at FW doesn't mean jack at LW.

I would literally do 95% td defense/ground game, 5% striking in the camp for that fight if i was Conor

You dont want to have Khabib on top of you throwing gnp

You're thinking it the wrong way.

It's not that every next opponent of Conor is a bad matchup for him, it's why all previous opponents of Conor aside from Chad Mendes (who was short camped, but nonetheless a bad match) favored him. Even Aldo somehow decided to outbox McGregor instead of lowkicking him back into O'blivion.

But then, what difference does it make? McGregor lost after a silly display of panic wrestling to avoid being KOed by Nate Diaz, and yet his nuthuggers still hug his stuff to the point where his balls become blue, so, I'll ask you once again: What difference does it make to defeat Conor McGregor when you have million of 13 y/o fans?

Have you accepted that someone defeated your superhero after that?

I like his way of fighting, I really do, it's legit. But all his trash talking/attention seeking misbehavior, plus his fans and plan of never defending a belt end up summing into a negative value.

PS: Not gonna reply this any further, I hope you understand my point, otherwise, well, whatever.

Woodley

Hoping this fight happens... But thinking Ferguson or Diaz also down the line. 155 is stacked and would love to see him Bang with any in the top 5... Also... if they do a Money-Fight... better be a catch-weight vs St Pierre.

Really........then explain how Kevin Lee lost to Al Laquinta when Laquinta is all stand up.....and Khabib beat Laquinta.....explain that one?

If Conor were to beat khabib folks on here would swear Khabib was just an overated bum.

What does that have to do with how Lee and Khabib match up? Kevin has 7 inches of reach on Khabib, more power in his hands and especially in his kicks and has a decent wrestling pedigree. Khabib has glaring holes in his striking defense and I think Lee could exploit that, his wrestling could also help him stay on the feet. That's my explanation. Also pointing to MMAth as a source for who's better is the epitome of idiocy as demonstrated by my Hallman/Hughes/Trigg triangle.

good post.

The issue I see with Conor however is that........

His standup is great ( for mma). But everything else? He is either competent ( offensive wrestling) or kinda helpless ( defensive wrestling/Ju jits)

LW is a shark tank. I would love to see Conor against them all tbh. lots of fun matchups

I agree, and I don't disagree that Khabib is a bad match up for Conor, but saying he's a bad match up for him because he lost to Nate Diaz is just terrible logic lol.

only 1 man, because he refuses to come back and fight the rest lol. Good one.

Between Conor, Tony and Khabib the only who is doomed is Conor.

Absolutely Lee and Khabib are not on the same level on stand up. Khabib is better, much better. Watch Edson vs Khabib (standing only) and watch Lee vs Edson (standing only). Edson, although molested was getting the better of Lee in the stand up in the 5th round (and I'm not even counting the knockdown). Also Al was better on the feet than Lee. Lee has nothing on Khabib.
