Look at how the UFC threw GSP under the bus when he announced his retirement, they even took his belt away while he was in the shower.

When a merger/acquisition happens they normally keep the old teams in place for a few months while they build the gallows.

They didn't just fire him, though, they put him on live tv for 6+ hours to announce their product.

I can't recall where I saw this suggested, either on here or twitter, but perhaps Goldberg didn't want to do anything on the broadcast. Maybe in a "professional" kind of way he just wanted to do the job cleanly and respectably without making it about him. It's an interesting idea he'd want it that way, but I don't know if that's the case. Either way, it's sad as fuck. I was waiting for Joe to do something and it never came.

People with 49% of companies get removed all the time. Even people with majority ownership are oftentimes locked out/fired from their own company if they are tricked into appointing a quorum of opposing board members.

I'm a fan of the guy despite his shortcomings, I find his chemistry with Joe is great and his mistakes usually come off affable. I'll miss that combination and this seems like a brash move by WME. I guess we'll find out.
