Crime Ohio Haitian Migrants eating Local Geese, Ducks and Family Pets

This is some straight up jack shit , where I say very little in a post and all of a sudden I'm saying all kinds of things I never said.

I think working class people are kinda fucked by both sides who want to exploit those migrants for their own gains for different reasons.

And I'm not mad at them for wanting a better life. But my fellow countrymen also want a better life and it really seems to me that the balance is out of whack.
Working-class people are helped economically by immigration, but some of them feel emotionally disturbed by changing demographics. Politics is basically choosing between the two factors--not just on this issue.

LOL

Donald Trump’s running mate JD Vance has dug in on his claim Haitians in an Ohio community are abducting and eating pets, even as the state’s GOP governor and other officials insist there is no evidence of such behavior.

But the salacious claim was easily debunked.

“The Vance campaign provided the Wall Street Journal with a police report to prove their claims about cat-eating Haitians in Springfield. The WSJ spoke to the woman who filed it, who said she later found her cat alive and well in her basement. She also apologized to her Haitian neighbors.”

The issue is blaming the migrants for economic woes when I don't think that's fair or accurate.

This whole exchange started with a working class person telling a different story. And he didn't sound all that emotional about it either he just laid out his truth about what he's seen and experienced.

What’s your evidence that the cat eater emigrated here?
He has none, he already admitted he fell for the hoax because he's a reactionary.
Haitians definitively look different from all other black groups in the Americas, but you would need to be like living among them to tell the difference and that still wouldn't work all the time.
They look different because they have less admixture but they're descended from West Africans like American slaves. Its possible they descended from different West African tribes but I'm not aware of anything like that. I think what I said there is mostly true, without hearing an accent or being tipped off by other context clues its hard to tell Haitians apart from AAs.
Fun fact, when Dominican dictator Trujillo wanted to genocide Haitians living in Dominican Republic, they had them say "perejil" since French speaking people don't have the spanish soft r sound they end up saying something like "Peguejil" and that was enough to get killed.
We call it the Parsley Massacre over here.

There's plenty of blame to go around but they do play their part. The people that bring and let them come in and employ them also play their part. We got a situation here where it seems like both groups are being exploited and it is also not likely that voting is going to bring relief in the immediate future.

How so?

Thank you for stating the obvious.

This is gonna trigger the libs, but it’s true. Now let the name calling and insults flow.

lol What is true?
Where was the proof of the cat and geese eating and kid killing?
Who is "the ruling class"? They planned all of this? For what purpose?
And how is billionaire Donald Trump not part of that club?

You guys fall for any big headed dope that speaks confidently and fondles Trump's balls.

And who said the people of Springfield were racists? People are calling the likes of Kirk, Trump, Loomer, and JD racist. You know, the people that are spreading the fake news.

The story is factually wrong, though. The reason people tell it is more about trying to fit their discomfort with changing demographics into a framework that sounds more polite.

Its not obvious though, hard to tell at glance as in looking at a guy on the streets.
Yeah, I'm not pretending to be an expert, but a clown in here was acting like it was absurd to suggest a guy in photo looked Haitian. You can tell when some people are just ignorant like that.

They didn't actually get dropped at his house lmfao that's just how CNN and MSNBC made it sound but still WHY did the national guard remove the 50 legal Venezuelan immigrants from Martha's Vineyard??? If a low to middle class republican city can be forced to take on 20,000 migrants. Why is it so much of a problem for a rich democrat run town to take on 50?!?!? It's not like they don't need the labor. There are over 2,000job openings on indeed within 25 miles. They clearly need the labor. Albertsons warehouse, BJ's Surplus warehouse an Amazon delivery station, Dominoes, dozens of landscape turned snow removal jobs and maids cleaning people. These migrants arent good enough for these jobs but they're good enough for the jobs in my 93% white republican town right???
I agree with the sentiment but those immigrants can't afford the property prices at Martha's vineyard. The can't rent an apartment there. They can't afford anything.

Depends on how you define working class and which situation you are looking at.
Wealth polarisation in the US as a result of immigration has been marginal, because you already had extreme wealth polarisation. That's not so much the case here, and the polarisation has been to a degree that the negative impact on the lowest income earners (a subset of the working class) due to increases in the cost of rent/housing and the collapse of unionisation (which again was stronger here than the US) has more than offset the economic growth for them. Although this could have been avoided with more infrastructure spending and slower immigration rates. The environmental impact of the rapid increase in population size is also considerable, and rarely even evaluated in any of these studies.

Well yeah, they're gonna compete with you, that's inevitable.

But competition is one of THE defining characteristics of our economic system

Read Mike's post again
I think he's dead wrong though, he has a zero-sum view of the economy that ignores the benefits that immigrants bring while magnifying the potential downsides.

In his mind the US would be better off if we conscripted Americans for farm labor rather than just letting Immigrants do the work for cheap.
