Paige VanZant vs Felice Herrig Highlights

Here's an amateur fight I was looking for the past few days that I just found, with a good prospect from Philly, love her attitude, Serena DeJesus, at BW, with another good prospect who trains Krav Maga, Cheyenne Hinsley.

It's from REAL MMA 5 that was this Friday:

Here is Cheyenne's impressive Tuff-N-Uff fight that happened about a month ago on March 14th, and may have been overlooked due to the Jedi Champion fight. Did a search, and couldn't find any posts on it:

[YT]X73TQWcfOY4[/YT]

I coulda sworn I saw it before, but this is who Serena fought a couple days ago, and she basically neutralized her and took her punches clean. This kid has got a chin. The fight wasn't an out and out brawl, but it was a smart one, she almost had a kimura in the first round, but Hinsley powered through and time ran out. Ceyenne came on strong at the end, but DeJesus took it all in stride, didn't panic.

Hope to see more of her, she trains out of Syndicate with Roxy, so expect big things!

Good fight, but disapointing since I was definitely rooting for Felice. I thought she was absolutely piecing her up on the feet, but tired rather and that allowed Paige to use the "Randy Couture" style that tired her further and she just didn't have anything left when that started.

Felice kept going for the back. Numerous times in round 2 she could've made it to guard and dropped some ground and pound and atleast once could have taken mount but opted for the back instead. She tries her utmost to finish and it failed her in that fight. Excited to see what she returns with.

By the start of the first round Felice looked like she was moving underwater, not what I anticipated.

(from the other thread)

Felice came out strong and was catching PVZ with strikes. Then she nearly caught her with a nasty kimura, Paige was grimacing pretty bad. After the first though, she couldn't stay out of Paige's clinch. Seemed like she should have circled out and used her distance better. PVZ has cardio for days though, and that fight was a lot of fun to watch.

I'm really looking forward to the prelims of UFC 186 next week! The main card has nothing to offer after all the dropouts (Dillashaw, Rory, Rampage, Trujillo), but the undercard is chock full of WMMA.

Sarah Kaufman vs. Alexis Davis - both high level BW's and Sarah could be primed for another title contention run.

Randa Markos vs. Ash Daly - this is just going to be a good fight.

Jessica Rakoczy vs. Valerie Laterneau - Rakoczy is back! Both girls making their SW debuts. I wonder if they'll both make weight?

watched the herrig fight today, you'd think someone with that much experience would not play into their opponents gameplan. when i saw the weigh in photos i wondered if herrig would gas. props to paige , would like to see her concentrate on stand up training before her next fight. im looking forward to next weeks card. i predict randa ,sarah, and valerie to come out on top.

Picked both Curran & Herrig over PVZ, and she pretty much did the same thing to both. I suppose I can't get over how bad Tecia Torres beat her down.

Excited for Rakoczy's fight. I tend to like good fighters with bad records a little bit more than usual. Really I want Shelby to find a way to match her up with Polish J at all costs. If this was Rich Chou he would book Holm vs Rakoczy, and let the winner fight their divisional champ.

Honestly I think we should really put Tecia on a higher stock, she's had close fights vs bad matchups and pretty much beat up Tecia and Paige.

Like I've said in other threads, I never understood how Tecia's stock ever fell below Jojo's. Never finished, gave Carla the toughest fight of the girls in the house, vulnerability to wrestling not as gaping as certain other girls' weakness to subs/wrestling, already beat Rose.

I think so too, Torres is clearly very good, and should be regarded as such. Hill might be a bad match up for her though, it should be a neat fight (too bad it's in June!). Maybe it will be the first time we see grappler mode Tecia Torres.

Not only that, we get Invicta the day before! Hell yeah!

Question of the day: If Sarah Kaufman beats Alexis Davis (convincingly), she is the #2 ranked BW in the UFC...yes or no?

I`d go with "yes". True, she got a gift with the overturned NC against Eye...and she may have lost the first fight with Smith, but she worked Leslie in their second fight and her only losses are to the BW GOAT and an extremely skilled 145er. Would the UFC every give Kaufman a second shot at Rousey?

Jarl

P.S. @Thirdpres (below). Interesting! I`m laughing a bit because only at a Jin Tang fight would who actually won the fight be an unclear or unresolved issue. Maybe there were some more shady dealings like (allegedly) with Van Soest?

Huge and fun week of MMA coming up. Tons to see.

Jarl. You might be interested to know that it looks like Lily Kazak did get a win over Jin Tang as I suspected she did. Last week I saw one suggestion Tang won the fight but now most sources say Kazak won.

I knew the Chinese media would have put up some flowery praises for Tang is she'd won right away.

I'd also read that Kazak was ahead in her last fight before the TKO in the third round. I haven't seen the fight. (I know where it is but they won't let me see it - trade/internet keeping it hidden)

Princes of Pain has a flyweight tournament coming up for PoP 45.

Summer Bradshaw mentions that her upcoming fight and the rest of the event will be livestreamed for those interested.

I'd go with no... I thought she won the fight with Eye, but it was very close and after being inactive for so long, it's hard to instantly bump her above Cat and Cupcake with a win over another fighter who hasn't fought in ages coming off a devastating KO loss. Rashad is in a similar situation, we still don't know if Gus/DC/Rumble are actually better than him but it's hard to keep him highly ranked after all this time and even if he comes back and beats someone like Bader, it would 'confirm' him still belonging in the top 5 rather than taking him to the top. Plus it's a win over a fighter she's already beaten TWICE, rematches tend to hold less weight for me since again it just 'confirms' the pecking order instead of establishing it.

I'd say rank Kaufman below Tate and Cat if she wins and have her fight one of them for the number 2 spot.
