She’s been back home in the Ukraine recently, doing a lot of PR work with sponsors.

Yeah I just checked her social media, and she seems happy about having Ukrainian sponsors for once. Also, Ukrainians don't appreciate it when people refer to their country as "The" Ukraine, it carries a negative connotation to them. Just a small heads up.

I don’t usually watch DWTNCSTWFS or whatever the initials are, but I watched a couple of the fights. Is it my imagination, or did Derpopoulos give up top position in every round without being taken down? Then she hunted for submissions she didn’t get, thus giving away the rounds. Not a very impressive display of fight IQ, considering that could have been her only shot at making it to the UFC. McKenna, on the other hand, fought an intelligent fight, and she’s definitely got time to grow her skill set.

'Derp-opoulous' (Demopoulos - not sure if that was deliberate :p ) is a BJJ specialist, she fights all her fights like that. BJJ is notorious for not emphasising takedowns compared to other grappling styles, so even though BJJ is kind of synonymous with MMA (most regional MMA gyms are built around BJJ, with various other arts bolted on), you won't find many fighters at the top level whose background is mostly just that because they have to fall to their butts and hope their opponent climbs on top to have a chance to execute their plan (wheras there will always be room for top fighters with a background solely in a boxing/kickboxing/wrestling because they always have somewhere they can try and impose their will on opponents). And even then, most well trained fighters are good enough to avoid being submitted. I thought if it was on the mat for a long time Demo would be able to get the submission, but as we saw even young Cory has already advanced past the point of getting submitted too easily so Demo had nothing (other than showing off her impressive stripper flexibility).

On the other hand, that style might have a better chance of winning a decision in an org like RIZIN where trying to finish the fight (with submission attempts) is given more emphasis. In Unified Rules MMA (UFC, Bellator, etc) if you're on top you've basically won the round even if you do nothing and your opponent has multiple strong submission attempts, which doesn't feel right to me.

Dan Hardy cunningly avoiding cost of models for his gear.

Well, it's working... looking good... 'Dan Hardy's Reptile Collective' though? nah not buying.

Wait.... what's this, reverse psychology? They read my mind before I even clicked their page, very clever...

..... still not buying though
<[analyzed}>

I guess Paige wants to prove a point. Thought?View attachment 790634

Personally I'd say the best way of proving that point 'not just a pretty face' would be by gaining skillz and respect for said skillz, but that can be difficult I suppose, so maybe her plan is for people to say instead '...she's not even a pretty face (anymore)!'?

Based on reasonable standards Bethe Correia wouldn't be Invicta material since she
doesn't fit the criteria that Shannon Knapp operates within since she is not a pro MMA
debutant or in a position to have a career worth saving since she is too far gone.

I agree that the scoring should not be so cut and dried that “on top = winning”, and my misspelling of her name was deliberate as a comment on her game plan. While we may wish sub attempts scored more, they don’t, and she had to know that coming in. It was also in reference that tripping over your own feet is still probably not the preferred method of bringing the fight to the ground. :)

Anyone watching Jasmine Jasudavicius to see if she catches another body in Cage Fury tonight?

She’s a name, and a good test for up and comers.

I wouldn’t be surprised is someplace like Brave picked her up, TBH. That is, if she decides to keep fighting.

Weird thought popped into my head. If Amanda Nunes and Valentina Shevchenko disappeared tomorrow, who would become the champions in their respective divisions? And would they be able to hold on to their belts for long enough to be dominant champions? Would this actually be good or bad for their divisions?

My guess would be A shevchenko a good standing fight for both.

I can safely say joanna or Zhang slide in as a dominant looking 125 Champion. 135 could flip alot of champions I can see anyone in the top 6 winning then dropping the belt.

Loureda thoting again, but she is not doing it for the men lmao

Call me old fashion or whatever you want to. I don't like how she is doing things at all. I understand adding sex appeal to your fight career to improve marketability and generate interest and money. The fighting should be the main attraction and the sex appeal to enhance it. However, She is like 95% of this crap and 5% fight career. You already know she is going to be put on the MVP diet of cans until she is 20-0. So she won't have to even attempt to take a fight career seriously for years.
