Anybody else score round one of Kassem vs De La Rosa 10-8?

Not to get political, but ESPN firmly embracing sjw politics is going to be very beneficial to the women’s division, and we fans by extension.

Someone could make a very valid argument for 10-8, but the counter would be very little damage done. I am fine with either, really. Agree about ESPN, and I did not think of that. Let the incels cry.

As my signature shows, I'm rooting for Lee, Penne, and Calvillo.
And I'm hoping that this photo doesn't mean that Lee is going to have some more testing problems... ;)

Going with Calvillo, Casey's fight IQ is non-existent and she has a talent for throwing away winnable fights.
KGB should win if she's got her head screwed on straight, but who knows where she's at after that domestic shit show last fall.
No clue on Penne vs. Esquibel, would normally give Jessica the edge but she's been out for ages so who knows where she's at.
Albu's technique needs work, but she should be able to straight up out-muscle and out-athlete Whitmire in a wild fight.

Calvillo. Cast Iron Casey can bang but she's a bit flat-footed. Cynthia's aggressive & more well-rounded.
Lee. Evans-Smith has fought some strong competition. I just like Lee's ability to rack up wins.
Penne. Esquibel didn't impress me much in Invicta. Penne has kickboxing & jiu jitsu.
Whitmire. Albu hasn't fought since July 2017. Emily's been more active & beat Jamie Moyle last outing.

    What are your picks?

What's everyone's picks for most & least exciting fight? I'll say:
    Most exciting Calvillo - Casey
    Least exciting Penne - Esquibel.

Calvillo, Evans-Smith, Penne and Whitmire. It's over 5 years since Albu pulled out of a bout with Kedzie (?) and she's only fought twice since. Can't believe she's really much interested in fighting.

I actually think the Penne Esquibel fight will be the most exciting, the battle of the bleeders.

Albu & Whitmire is almost certainly going to madness, sloppy madness, but it’ll be interesting while it lasts.

Callvillo and penne are easy to pick and cheer for.
Lee is a likely winner BUT I'm 1000% cheering on Ashlee to beat her nazi loving ass.
Emily vs Albu I just hope looks good don't really know who to pick or care.

Also I noted it a few pages ago but the ESPN era is/has been good for wmma.

You're really blowing this "worst fighter on the roster" bit up
Hell this coming weekend features Albu v Whitmore, and esquibal all haven't achieved a win as big as Chalmers. And if looked around the roster I'm sure I can find a ton more like mccann v cachieira THAT'S 5 girls I'd say Kassim should be a favorite over. DLR maybe not an elite fighter yet but she's definitely one of the best at flyweight, her Nicco tuf fight wasn't with her team and they don't get full camps. Dern could beat literally anyone in wmma if she gets a good judo flip and calivllo is an elite fighter. You sound like the people who say nate and eddie suck therefore conor isnt good at all.

I've watched all the fighters you mentioned. Whitmire (not "Whitmore"), Albu, Esquibel, McCann, and yes, EVEN Cachoeira are better than Kassem. In at least a few cases, significantly so.

No one has Kassem's combination of being undersized, woefully physically weak, awful stand-up, zero wrestling, and terrible jits.

That a nearly 40 year-old Chambers, herself a dreadful fighter, gassed horribly after easily beating Kassem in round 1 to lose a decision, all while Kassem had the advantage of coming in very heavy (118) for their strawweight fight is nothing to be proud of.

What does "one of the best at flyweight" even mean in such a brand-new, weak division right now?

The next title challenger is a fighter, Jessica Eye, who lost 4 straight and was nearly out of the UFC, and whose 3 fight "winning streak" consists of exactly one very convincing victory, over Jessica Rose-Clark of all people.

Yeah, De La Rosa might be top 10 right now, but there are less than 10 decent fighters in the UFC division right now.

You're also not considering Bellator. Ilima-Lei MacFarlane and Juliana Velasquez would be significant favorites against anyone at flyweight except for Valentina Shevchenko.

But that will change very soon in the UFC. Someone like Maycee Barber, whose next fight is at flyweight, is already much better than DLR.

Do you even believe this nonsense? Dern has potential, and showed a nice overhand right against Cooper, but is still a BJJ fighter who struggles to take people down of the kind who have struggled to find success in male MMA since the late 90's. Saying she could beat "literally anyone in wmma" is especially silly when you consider she could barely beat Ashley Yoder.

I like Calvillo (not "calivllo"), but it remains to be seen how supposedly "elite" she is when she got outpointed by a significantly smaller Esparza, who was herself dominated by a serious contender like Suarez. Oh, and DLR is a LOT bigger than Calvillo.

Did you just compare De La Rosa to Conor McGregor and Nadia Kassem to Eddie Alvarez?

If you're trying to convince anyone that these fighters are better than I'm giving them credit for, absurd statements like this aren't the way.

Cavillo, Penne, Lee, Albu...but I'd only feel confident enough to bet on the first one.

The same terrible Chambers who easily subbed Esquibal. Somehow tells you she's laughably better than Kassem? Whitmire who's guaranteed to have a losing record in a few fights look how easy it was for Robertson to sub her. McCann with a huge weight advantage getting thrown down and sub with 0 defense by Robertson in the only fight she had outside the can circuit. All three are 2x worse on their back, atleast Kassem put up a struggle and against a better submission specialist too.

    Im taking:

Calvillo: as someone said before, Casey's fight iq is quite non existent, so im taking calvillo's hype train again lol.
Kgb: ive enjoyed Evans Smith career on the upper weight, but somehow i dont see her going well at flw. Kgb showed good skills so far and i believe we will see more of it this week.
Esquibel: penne is done. I really thought she was already released. Theres no way someone can tell me that a fighter coming of a suspension and a lot of losses will win this match. Esquibel Just need to let this fight on the standup
Albu: i dont know why. Just feel that shes gonna win. No real argument about It.
