Well damn. Mizuki caught up. But to be fair, Megan had the best year in terms of the FWs. I think Hill is the most logical choice though.

Which is like being the tallest midget. Two of her three opponents went into their fights with her a combined 5-5 in their last 5 fights and are now both .500 or below overall

I think I voted Hamasaki for sub of the year. Was that a choice? Seems like I remember casting it. I thought it was great how she almost got subbed herself (in Brown's gnarly triangle) and still pulled out the win. Is she still wanting to move up to 115? I'd like to see a Yu Frey rematch. If Hamasaki moves up, who else would be lined up to fight for the vacant belt? Is Brown planning to stay at 115?

Hamasaki wants to fight in the UFC. She can't do that at 105 lbs.

From what I gathered, she would like to make the leap while still with IFC. It's too bad USADA squashed Hill's recent chance to make her return to UFC. Would've been a good opportunity for Hamasaki to fight for the SW belt. Although I'd like to see Hill get another crack at the big leagues, I'd also like to see if her TDD can stop Hamasaki's magic takedowns. Perhaps the two champs could have a superfight for a ticket to the UFC.

Hamasaki wouldn't encounter the same technicality that Hill did, because the former never fought in the UFc before.

I was just poking around on Sherdog's event/fighter pages and found someone who had lost to Emily Corso. I did a search to see what "The Mantis Shriimp" was up to and I see that Corso signed with Invicta FC and was supposed to fight in early 2015 but dislocated her toe. She is still listed on Invicta FC's roster, but her twitter account EmilyCorsoMMA has been deleted. Has she left MMA?

So I watched Nakai vs Murata, it was definitely a Rin Nakai fight. Even more frustrating than her and Murata's striking was the commentary, I get that Murata is an amazing wrestler, but they failed to make mention of the fact Rin was a really good Judoka in the mid 2000s (I think she won 3rd place in Japan's national championships one year) of course she can defend a double leg.

Hopefully Rin takes the money she makes and goes to train boxing elsewhere. She's athletic enough to learn it, just needs a better coach than her husband. As for Murata she is still a prospect with a ton of upside, but she belongs at 115.

Rin Nakai arguably has the best grappling in WMMA. Which is really impressive considering she's never had an official training camp nor fighters to work with all these years. She squashed Murata easily.

There is zero chance of Rin training elsewhere. While I would not call her marriage abusive, it is definitely exploitative.

I think it basically boils down to they're a Japanese couple, he's the husband, so what he says, goes.

Only in certain areas (meaning, certain places in Japan, or very traditional families). It is not as common as it used to be. Even when I was first there (early 90 something) it was slowly starting to change. And is changing even more. But her husband is the one who has her do those stupid fetish videos, and many woman today would not stand for it at all.

It's really quite unfortunate, Nakai is actually one hell of a physical specimen with a really good grappling hand. If she got a good nutritionist and striking coach, she'd be be top 10 at 115.

the japanese baffle me, politest people who have committed some real atrocities, all their porn appears to show the women under duress, the strange gameshows, the whole schoolgirl thing, ill never understand them.
on another note, who has everyone got for tommorows main event?
i think the fight is a genuine toss up, but hope rousey wins just to ruffle feathers on sherdog

Want Rousey to win, retire/move up then Nunes gets it back and goes on a decent run

The Ronda haters will be rustled like never before if she wins. I kinda want both to win though for different reasons.

She trained elsewhere for this fight, did some training with Kitaoka and Sarami. Probably little to 0 chance of her ever training outside of Japan. She is starting to show some clear improvements though, her striking has looked a lot better her last 2 fights (a lot less wasted strikes and bouncing around from a mile away as well as she seems to have a bit more bite on her strikes) and though we didn't really get to see much of it this fight, her gnp has gotten a lot more powerful lately.

My wish for 2017 is that post-USADA Barnett gets freed from his UFC contract and ends up fighting in Japan. And drops Rin's husband on his head backstage.

A couple of Fightnomics™ graphs made for the upcoming UFC which show some interesting stuff IMO.

I'm surprised Betch ends up in the 'great defense and offense' box. Betch Corriera WBW striking GOAT, Betch Striking >> Holm & Shevchenko. (No surprise Tate is the only noteworthy in bad at both). (Would be nice to know who the other dots are...)

Another one for all fighters on the next card shows Nunes is the Ultimate Headshotter
