$700 with no Disc drive is way too much. I'll stick with my Slim and maybe 2 years down the line I may pick up the Pro.

Everything’s more expensive now, upcoming Series X is 599 just for more storage, don’t be surprised if the new Switch is 500 +.

I do wonder about the new switch. I think it's either more expensive than expected or not as powerful as people would hope. It will be one of the two. Knowing Nintendo most likely the latter.

It’s going to be exactly in the same situation as its predecessor. It’s going to have virtually no third party support and if they do it will be terrible performing ports. It will be a 500 dollar first party machine. If people are okay with that then fine but personally I think I’m moving on from Nintendo. Enjoyed my switch but I don’t have time for two consoles anymore which is part of the reason I’m doubling down with PlayStation at this point. I like the fact they are trying to make it that third party games that are targeting PC like space marines 2 and black myth have a chance of running games better. Fact is switch will get zero of these titles because it will truly be impossible to run that even at lowest settings

They should have slashed one TB off of it and tried to sell a 599 digital and 699 disc drive edition. That’s my only disappointment. Im one of those gamers that focuses on one or two titles at a time. Never understood why people need to have dozens of games installed at once. I always delete and redownload stuff while it’s in rest mode.

Lets be honest here, the 'No Disc Drive' isn't a big deal unless you already own a PS5 and several games on disc.

As for the 'This Is The Death Of Physical Gaming' claims, its been dead for a while at this point. Even if you own a physical game you still have to download the latest updates onto your console SSD, as well as any DLC & Expansions.

Steam killed PC physical games, and its sad to say that consoles are going that way as well.

On the plus side, External SSDs are larger than ever and getting progressively more affordable.

While I was reading up on the Pro version, I randomly came across Dead Rising getting a Remaster which comes out next week. I'm more hyped for that lol.

I don’t have a single PS5 game that’s on disc. The reason why the no disc drive is such a major deal breaker for me is because my family uses the PS5 to watch DVDs and blu rays. I don’t have enough room on my TV stand for two PS5s side by side, one for gaming the other for movies. I’d rather sell my existing PS5 and use the sale proceeds towards a Pro, but not without a disc drive, and I’m not paying over $1000 Canadian for the rather modest improvements offered by this thing.

The Switch was the first Nintendo console I've purchased since I had an NES when I was 8/9. What I quickly learned is Nintendo simply does not make games I enjoy. I played all their 9/10 games they released and at best they were ok games (IMO). Xenoblade 2 was the only true outstanding game I ever played on that system. Tried to play the first game they remastered and was bored out of my mind. With little 3rd party support I just went ahead and sold it.

I'm all on in PS as well at this point. I was going back and forth between PC and PS but I sold all my PC stuff and I'm done with that ecosystem.

Let me know when they announce Ghost Of Tsushima 2… pretty disappointing there has been nothing super epic since Ragnarok

What was the launch price of the PS5? $400? And this one is $700. So now you've spent $1100 on 2 consoles within 4 years.
Then when you factor in the $80 a year subscription requirement to play games online, you're in for over $1400.

And you don't get a stand for $700.

That price is insane to me. Especially no drive or stand??? Nah fam

Seems apparent to me that this is my last console gen, except hand-helds. Can't imagine the cost they will try to justify in the next cycle.

Was gonna make the jump to ps5 with this but the no disc drive is giving me pause
I have backlog of ps4 games on disc I wanted to play, and my wife wanted a way to play DVDs in the living room

I'd instantly pre-order if it had a disc drive

You can just buy the regular ps5

I really hope we hear about future titles on the pro soon and how they’ll run. Hope games like monster hunter wilds will see improved fidelity and fps on it

Indeed I could, also could just buy another ps4 at this point
I've been waiting for a new bundle or version to come out though (only been thinking about upgrading to ps5 this year so was waiting for the pro)

So I didn’t realize that the Euro was still worth more than the US dollar, so the PS5 Pro is €800 which is $882 USD
