Odd that both Anderson and Izzy got taken out by guys that weren't Elite but Jack-Of-All Trades?

Granted Izzy didn't get finished but both Anderson and Izzy had their first losses in the UFC to guys who weren't elite at anything such as an elite striker like Cro Cop, elite ground specialist Werdum, or elite wrestler like DC. Izzy and Anderson were both lethal strikers and more 2 to 1 dimensional than well-rounded. I always thought Anderson's ground game was over-rated but he relied on people thinking he was deadly on the ground until Chael Sonnen sat in his guard for nearly 5 rounds without getting submitted.

They lost to guys who were Jack-of-All Trades, Masters of None (basically "All-Arounders")with great cardio.

Both Jan Błachowicz and Chris Weidman were good wrestlers but neither was a great wrestler such as Cormier or other highly credentialed wrestlers.

And those fighters used their average to slightly above average all-around skills to win the fight. They were well-rounded but not lethal in any area. They weren't KO or Submission artists (before anyone says anything although they have KO's and submissions in their record they weren't proven elite KO strikers like Cro Cop or submission experts like Big Nog). The exact opposite would be Fedor who was lethal in all aspects of MMA with KO power in his hands, great wrestling/Sambo, and a deadly ground game and great cardio.

A lot of people said the fighter to beat Anderson would be a good wrestler with decent striking and they weren't wrong.

    Prove me wrong........

Weidman is 100% a pure wrestler with OK boxing at best. His jiu jitsu is solid but that should be a given for most wrestlers in MMA. Weidman a jack of all trades? Really? I'd consider someone like Rory Macdonald actually well rounded in comparison.

This is not 1994. MMA is a sport where largely you have to be a jack of all trades, as you put it (yes there are some exceptions).

If you're top 5 in the UFC you are basically elite.

    This is MMA.

Both Jan and Chris are elite.

I'm talking about Chris back then. He was an absolute beast.

Chris had good wrestling and BJJ but his striking wasn't great, he was also really slow. You could tell Anderson was past his best after getting ko'd by him

    Well Rounded guys become champions.

GSP was well rounded and he’s a goat.

GSP wasn't just well-rounded, GSP was well-rouned with elite wrestling, striking, and submissions, he was the total package like Fedor.

Ugh.....yes, both used striking and wrestling with takedowns/takedown attempts to win the fight. Neither tried to keep the fight standing.

i wouldn’t say GSP had elite submissions. He couldn’t submit Dan Hardy or Condit or many guys on his WW title run.

GSP is great but I think his offensive submission game could have been better.

If thats your definition of jack-of-all-traits you could literally include half of the roster in that category. Both fights played out completly different. Chris was primarly a wrestler and him koing Andi was a huge surprise because his hands arent that great. Jan is a decent striker/boxer who used his superior strenght and size to controll Izzy for 5 rounds. Not really comparable fights.

Izzy got dominated on the feet, if Jan is not an elite striker than what does that make Izzy? A glorified calf kicker?

Jan is one of the best strikers in mma right now and Weidman was one of the best submission wrestlers in mma at the time.

Both guys are definitely above average in every aspect of mma

Marquardt was pretty well rounded. Henderson is fairly well rounded or is at least dangerous standing up. Forrest Griffen was well rounded.

    Weidmans wrestling is elite.
You’re an idiot if you can’t recognise that.
