I have a soft spot for Obama and I know I shouldn't. His initial campaign was inspiring not only for the US, but for the entire world. I (want to) believe that he tried to make changes that mattered, but failed. He was definitely met by massive resistance and fought tooth and nail on any legislative initiatives and it seems like after his first term the life had pretty much been drained out of him. "Obama care" was completely gutted before it was passed, which is partly why it turned out as bad as it did.

Ultimately, he will be remembered as an establishment democrat who kept waging wars and contributing to the status quo.

Amen. Obama was the catalyst for that and he convinced the Democrat party to take a hard left turn away from all common sense. Which drove people to Donald Trump.

I do think race relations were a lot better before Obama arrived and poked at law enforcement when he should have kept silent until the evidence came out. With his comments "the cops acted stupidly" and his comments on BLM riots during the Michael Brown incident.

Obama could have done a lot of good in terms of calling on urban black communities to return to morality and responsibility. It was a missed opportunity. Which those things are more beneficial than marching and rioting and burning down Ferguson or Baltimore.

Good point. I think some fail to realize that's what Community organizers do, they whip people into a frenzy over some perceived wrong then channel that energy into political action.

When BLM formed during Ferguson, Obama told law enforcement to "show restraint" for the BLM protests. Law enforcement said "ok" to Obama, and they let them burn, riot and destroy the community of Ferguson. BLM knew the Obama administration would investigate any altercations of local law enforcement with BLM.

Also at the Dallas BLM rally where a racist black man killed 5 Dallas cops. There was a memorial service to the fallen cops, and Obama goes on to talk about "racist police departments" at a memorial service of 5 policemen/women who were killed by a racist black man.

No doubt, Obama is really the catalyst to the Social Justice movement that is out of control today. It got out of control during Obama's terms, especially the second term.

It's not untrue that the Republicans constantly shot everything down he tried to do that was "good" either. We don't want to hear it yes, we're past that point and it sounds whiny, but it's true. I remember it clear as day. "SHOW US THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE! MUSLIM KENYAN SOCIALIST" talk about obstruction and obfuscating.

Wrong. Nixon started the EPA, today's republicans think climate change is a Chinese hoax. The corporate tax rate under Eisenhower was around 50%, and up to 90% on the richest individual tax rates. The modern republicans believe in a flat tax (or some other weird shit) for individuals and a negative corporate tax rate where the government gives money to the corporations. Ronald Reagan provided amnesty to illegal immigrants before 1982, and George Bush wanted to provide a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants again in 2007.

While Clinton was a centrist democrat, he was much closer to Barrack Obama than George Bush, let alone Trump.

Also, Republicans now don't give a shit about checks and balances, committing perjury, states rights, or executive overreach anymore, at least when it's done by their guy.

Republicans wanted to impeach Bill for lying and having an affair. Trump does the same shit and they don't care.
