NSAC's Fertitta suddenly changed sanctioning vote to: UFC wrong for NV

This is such old news, SEG didn't have the political capital the Fertitas did/do (except in NY apparently), it was overall better for the sport to be in the hands of a family with more power.

He went to school with them. He ran a successful business, was a fight enthusiast and if I remember correctly, the whole thing was his project.

That is about as big a conflict of interest between a state regulator and the industry/market they regulate as their could possibly be. This kind of corruption is very much illegal. It's astounding how the public generally gives zero fucks about white collar crimes that largely affect the lives of many in their everyday lives, but have the ability to get up in arms for change and band together when some stupid lion gets killed in Africa.

Good response that will unfortunately get ignored. Most these morons whining about the lion couldn't even point out the country...
 
Thats nice and all but it doesn't make sense to me. The UFC at the time was effectively an outlaw organization in many locals. They had a sitting US Senator campaigning to have them shut down and couldn't even get on PPV. They also needed backup locations in more than a few cases in case politicians pressured venues to cancel on them. This was all thanks to the marketing strategies pursued by owners like Bob Meyerowitz. I can't see an experienced businessman like Lorenzo looking at it and seeing something worth stealing.

If wasn't just that. The UFC was hanging on by a thread and needed the vote. Since NV voted against it, they didn't have a choice but to sell.
