So it seems the news that the NSAs hacking software was itself hacked has validity. I'm watching morning news which is usually bubblegum stories or bad news stories told with bubble gum smiles. But they just told this story and the guy was just like: "This is bad news. Basically they just took our gun in a gun fight and now we have no gun. It's bad news for us."

So how screwed are we?

Not screwed. This won't affect your life at all.

Welcome to life in the 21st century. People spying on you and stealing your identity and shit. Oh well.

I think it's good. Fuck the NSA. Being spied on by my own government like I live in 1930's Germany. Hopefully this completely embarrasses them and the U.S.

Maybe we shouldn't use toys, especially if we don't even know how to play with them. The NSA is putting Americans at risk with their gross over reach and incompetence.

But now others have it and can use it as well?

apparently the hackers are selling the info to the highest bidder/ asking for 1 million bitcoins (roughly 500 million)

so far they are about 999'998.937 short of that goal.

also, probably a scam

So far what I'm seeing from this leak are exploits, implants, and other hacking tools that have been fairly well known for years now. All of them patched or at least have had signatures created for their detection. Nothing ground breaking or really dangerous here so far. So don't be scared homie.

Some possibilities so far:

- an ancient and forgotten malware server was hacked, possibly connected to the NSA, but I'm not seeing anything really convincing that it was. We would need to see some new operational info like Snowden released to prove this was connected to the NSA.

- a well researched and well orchestrated hoax has been carried out.

A bounty of 25% of all the bitcoins in existence almost seems comical for something like this. Makes me believe this is a hoax.

its possible that the nsa allowed themselves to be hacked to their advantage.

I think this day in age software like that can and is rewritten better every other year.

Lol. If America is fucked, you Trudy-led Nancy boys are going to be on all fours, fish-hooking your own assholes so that the inevitable rape stings a little less.

I wouldn't worry though. This probably means nothing.

I'm going to sell the government a life-lock subscription...idiots

oh noooooez a bunch of hackers have my porn history. End of days is here!

remember, they weren't really storing our shit so what have we got to worry about

All joking aside, I would love to see the crap they blackmailed Comey and others with

This is far beyond stealing civilians identities. More like tools that can screw with financial systems and more importantly, the hack can prove what NSA (the USA) has been up to lately.

I believe it's directly connected to the DNC hack.

No one cares about your feet-folder.

Yes it's huge. The only question that remains is which end will blow up.

In poker terms. This hack, on the world stage, is like someone check-raising with quads.

Now it's very unliekly that the bullying side actually has a better hand (that would be the NSA/USA). If they fold, seemingly unrelated news will blow up. If they call with a worse hand news will blow up related to this.

Chances that the NSA sits on a better hand and are playing this to perfection is like 0.01%

In short, USA just got btfo in the cyber war.

Nah, smart money's on this being CT fear-mongering.

We'll see who's right in a year.

How do you figure this is CT-fear mongering? There's nothing more to fear than the usual to be honest.

All signs point to this, how can you not see this? People are blaming Russia for the hack. Just like they blamed them for the DNC. Snowden apparently was well aware of this going on, he was making alluding comments just before it happened a week ago and was one of the first "legit" sources to confirm the hack.

Wikileaks apparently was there ready to go and copied all the files from github before they were deleted, which was pretty fast and will redistribute soon.

Wikileaks are ofcourse against the NSA, and by extention, the USA (for simplification, but the USA isn't a faction really, it's rather parts, representing, in the end, the USA. Not really it's people).

Does this automatically make them team Russia or is it a collective grassroot thingy? You decide for yourself.

It will not take a year to resolve this.

DNC hack occurred and Hillary and co was pretty quick to point fingers at Russia and this appears and is suggested by many sources to be a "cock-block" to any retaliation for that.

If side "X" recognize the "cock-block" and backs off side "Y" will surely press the advantage. What form and shape that will take might be hard to recognize but I'm sure many people who have more meat on the bone are following this very closely.

If they don't, and just bulldoze - shit will hit the fan for sure.
