Now that khabib is retired, Gregor Gillespie has the claim to be the best grappler in 155.

And this is coming from an Islam fan. What Gillpesie did to Diego is simply amazing. Not only did he beats him in the grappling, but he also becomes the first person to finished Ferreira on the ground.

Would love to see him fight Islam is Gillespie can avoid standing for too long.

I honestly hope they don't make this fight. Islam should fight hooker while Gillespie can fight Felder.

I agree. I feel like those two are potentially holding an undeserved spot in the rankings and should have to fight these guys trying to climb the top 10 rankings.

I'm pretty sure he signed a multiple fight deal with the ufc.

Yeah, let them build themselves up before an anticipated matchup. Why ruin 2 prospects. But that would be an epic grappling focused match so hopefully they don't diverge in their fight paths and we never get to see.

    Mark Madsen baby.
    Islam will out-grapple Gillespie everywhere.

That has to be a massive confidence booster for Gregor. I think if he stays active and gets the experience he has tons of potential. His grappling was a thing of beauty against a legit bjj black belt who is bigger than him.

Islam, Gillespie and Tsarukyan are some of the best wrestlers in the sport and they all fight in the same division.

    Crazy stuff.

Gregor is small for the division from what I remember

    kinda like Frankie ?
Not sure his grappling would work against Islam

I agree that he's too small. I think his size and, average at best, striking are a real liability for him. However, his amazing grappling ability and heart should keep him hovering around the bottom end of the top 10.

He has a bad chin and very telegraphed stupid gameplan of spamming double legs.

Yeah too small for the division for my liking. But he's 34, I don't think he wants to hurt his body more to make 145.

Gillespie is more Bryce Mitchell than he is closer to khabib. I know you're not comparing him to khabib but I'm using khabib as the metric here.

They will win against top rank competition but because of their limited skillset, they will lose to elite competition.

I don't see Gregor beating islam or Arman. I see him beating Chandler maybe but Chandler can catch him on the feet better. They're the same age. I think gaethje beats Gregor. I think gaethje chews his legs up and makes gregors shots less effective. Drive Gregor doesn't use sweeps,I think Gaethje could defend TDs

If Felder doesn't want to fight Islam, there's no way he signs up to fight Gillespie. Even lower in the rankings but similar suffocating style.
Wouldn't be surprised either if Hooker takes an extended break. He survived s five-round war with Dustin and then got knocked out by Chandler.

He also got outgrappled by CDF in the first badly enough that he was close to getting finished. Not what I’d call the best grappler in the division.
