nothing really matters

What matters or doesn't matter to you may matter or not matter to somebody else. It's riddled with subjectivity and not even really worth saying without a "to me" attachment or something similar, which makes it personal and not very philosophical.

Maybe our problems don't amount to a hill of beans.
But this is our hill!
These are our beans!

That's what I said when my junkie girlfriend woke up dead from choking on her own vomit, one month later I was back to cooking meth. Now I got a new girl and she has a kid. He eats berries and plays Sonic.

In the grand schemes. Nothing matters. As long as the sun exists, the earth will remain. With or without humans. Polluted or unpolluted.

On the small scale. I matter to my kids. And that is good enough for me.

It's essentially true. The hard part is what to do next. I choose to follow a life where I stick to my convictions no matter where it leads. Sometimes that can mean breaking the law, or simply doing something outside of societal norms and being ostracized. I strive to be as honest as I can, and enjoy bettering myself.

If you choose to go the mass murdering route, in the grand scheme of things, I can't really see it making much of a difference. But I don't see why you wouldn't want to make the world a better place to be for yourself, and others, while we are here. I mean, we are stuck here, might as well do what we can to not make it suck.
