Notes from the EFS Seminar- Noted Tips from Jim Wendler

I've been doing the broomstick thing (but with rope, guess its still the same?), great for warming up, especially before benching.

Maybe, but probably not. Go spend a few pennies on a stick or pipe. I use mine to work overhead squats every day and can attest that it's a fucking miraculous tool.

Definatelly. Anyone who has a hrad time overheadsquats probably needs more flexibility in their shouldergirdle. The broomstickstrech works best here. I also do it every day.

I've heard this before from Jim/Matt Rhodes, but it was always in relation to just bench press. I don't think you can perform a 3rm or 5rm squat without breathing without passing out. At least I couldn't.

I don't think you guys are understanding what he's saying. You breathe in between each rep, you don't hold your breath the entire time.

That's not what he's saying, he said hold your breath until the lockout of the final rep. We are saying to breathe in between reps.

Any one have a link to Kroc rows? I've seen Fatty do them, but what makes it a 'Kroc' row? Just because it's high reps or am I missing something?

kroc rows are just high rep dumbbell rows. jim wendler started calling them (and everything else high rep for 1 all out set) kroc whatevers because that's how matt kroczaleski trains a lot of the time.

Got it. To failure does he go or a set number before hand?

Let me know if it helps. My strength is slowly but surely coming back in my shoulder, but the flexibility is starting to be a concern. I'm actually thinking of going back to my PT to work on it. I still can't even hold an empty barbell. :icon_sad:

Edit: I will go try it as well, not expecting you to let me know if I should do it. Just curious to know if it helps you. After re-reading this post I realized it sounded wrong, lol. Kinda like, "I'm being lazy, you go do it and tell me if it works."

It was actually...amazing.

I drove to school with this calm, relaxed feeling. Actually, it felt so good, than I'm heading out to garage right now to do it again.

Damn you...now I have to get up and go out on my porch and try it myself.

Donut, thanks for posting that. It was a little hard to understand Jim sometimes, but it was really informative. What he said about goals is really good, makes you really think wtf you're doing in the gym.

I've always liked dumbell rows, never thought of doing them for high reps though. So Kroc row=1 set of dumbell rows for high reps to failure basically?
